“Very quiet and relaxing”

We stayed there for a week and enjoyed the place to its entirety. From the humming birds and butterflys feeding of their plants to the great breakfast in the morning. Also very convinient location to get to the airport.

“Great for Peace and Quiet”

When we arrived it wasn't quite what we expected as it is a rather unusual layout. The rooms are basic but very comfortable, especially yhe huge king size+ bed, and spotlessly clean. The secluded garden is great for lazing in the hammock with a good book and the patio has glorious views over the countryside and volcano. The American owners and the local staff couldn't be more helpful. They are very knowledgable about things to do locally but as we were only there for 1 night we couldn't take advantage. It's about 15-20 mins from the airport, but is very rural and extremely quiet. Will definately go back

“Nice Little Oasis Convenient to Airport & Poas”

Very pleasant and helpful staff at this property. Good "typical" breakfasts and dinners as well, plus other nearby eateries. Like everything else in the country, the property is a little hard to find (reference Hotel Buena Vista when inquiring or using GPS), but it is worth the effort to start or end your trip. This is easy to/from the airport and less than an hour drive to visit the Poas Volcano NP. For the money, this is a gem and we would stay there again without hesitation.

“Nice B&B outside San Jose”

Vina Romantica is a small 4 bedroom bed and breakfast in the hills above Alajuela, owned by a lady from Texas. I only stayed there one night so I didn't get to experience any of the food, but they did have a kitchen on site with inside and outside seating. The rooms don't have any TV's which could be good, could be bad. There was a nice flat screen in the main lobby/seating area for 3-4 guests. The rooms were freshly painted and very clean. Beds were comfortable. The view from our room of the volcano and city was amazing. Not much to do on-site from what I could tell. Internet access is available in the seating area, not sure if there was a price for use or not. The B&B is located in a mostly residential area, so it felt safe but also had the barking dogs and such. There was a very friendly resident cat to greet you. No A/C in the rooms, but ceiling fans and open windows seemed to work for us, it was early June though. Being in the hills, it cools down nicely at night.

“Acceptable”

The hotel (more of an inn) served it's purpose, a stopping point before leaving the San Jose area. Quiet, peaceful environment. Owner is pleasant and helpful.
