“disappointing but problem solved for the night”

After I reconfirmed two reservations twice for two rooms within 4 days of arrival, the hotel had overbooked and was going to relocate my work colleague to another hotel. NOT GOOD. After a bit of stern complaining, the hotel put the guest into a room that the carpet was all wet (had been shampooed). AGAIN BAD!. Then really stern and gruff complaining of UNACCEPTABLE for a wet room; the guest was placed into another room that resolved the problem for the eveing. The rooms (Kings & doubles) were a bit better than an economy hotel, clean but needed maintenance (several lights out). The hotel needs a major exterior renovation because it was a little better than a economy motel. The included breakfast was relatively good standard fare and the tropic bar was pretty standard. However I will seek another better updated and styled hotel in the future. I rate this hotel 2.5 out of 5. It's in a safe area but not a lot of hotel charm nor ambiance.

“Blood On The Bed Spread!”

Not satisfied with this room. Room faced parking lot meaning people constantly walking by as well as car alarms constantly locking and unlocking cars. Loud music thumped until about 11pm. Room looked very old with tube tv! When I checked bed, bed spread had old dried blood stain. Bed Spread was also ripped. Found red spider in room. Room Service was decent and fairly quick. Felt uneasy all night, would not stay here again.

“A little dated but ok”

We got there a few hours early and couldn't check in our room, so went into the island grill and had some lunch which was ok nothing special. Lobby bar and restaurant were dated but clean .. They gave us coupons for breakfast which was the samething everyday we ate there. Maybe a little variety would of been nice.But food was ok. Housecleaning did a great job on our room everyday.The people in the bar and restaurant weren"t that friendly and hard to understand at times. It was a quiet hotel.

“Great hotel for the price!”

We had a great time at this hotel. Great location, close to everything! The pool area is very nice and the rooms were quiet. My only complaint was that the pool was closed a couple of days for the area to be painted and there was no notice given.

“Pleasantly surprised”

After reading the many reviews for the hotel, I tried to prepare myself for the unexpected. The facilities turned out to be decent for a 3-star. It's more like a motel type, than a hotel (i.e. residence inn type). Breakfast was great. You could park right in front of your room (or at the back depending on the room location). Location is ok. Best part of it was the price we paid for the hotel.

“will stay again next time”

Staff were very friendly. Lobby and our room and were clean. We got a room looking out to the pool. Very nice. However, the corner hallway in the back was dark and was not clean. I had to go around to ask for ice before I found out the machine was in that dark corner. On my third night, our key cards did not work. I don' know why. I had to go down to ask for a new one. I like the hotel van that run to the airport every thirty minutes to pick up and to drop off. No worry about making arrangement with friends or relatives to give you a lift. I will stay again next time.

“A decent hotel for a great price.”

Overall, we really thought the Clarion San Jose was an excellent value. No problems during any part of the stay. The room was fine, pool/hot tub great, free breakfast excellent, service excellent. We will book this hotel again.
