“The hotel with the grandfather clock”

See comments in "More about your trip." I wrote my review in that box mistakenly and I don't want to retype the whole thing.

Area recommendations

The Clarion Silicon Valley is located on a parkway replete with trees and a mix of businesses, apartments, and residences. The rooms are easy to access and are perfect for those whose vacationing experiences are not primarily about the lodging quarters, but who still want a place to relax. The bathroom always had hot water for tub or shower (I had to let it run awhile on the second floor, but it did get plenty hot.) The rooms are quiet, and no TV noise crept through the walls. The " continental breakfast" in the hotel is OK but nothing fancy, so a one-minute walk right next door to a mom and pop-type breakfast/lunch nook hit the spot each morning. The hotel provides copies of USA Today and the Wall Street Journal gratis in the lobby each morning. The grandfather clock in the lobby is a masterpiece, but is usually stopped for some reason. I started it when we arrived and it was still running when we left four days later. We felt well taken care of during our stay. We'll stay there any time we're in the San Jose area.

Getting around

Try to get a detailed street map of the entire San Jose area. Nothing is straight line, so directional designations on streets are virtually meaningless. The city is pleasant and generally well-kept, but directional signs are often not posted until one is right at the intersection. Get a map!

“Good price, good location”

I wanted an inn/hotel that would offer reasonable rates and good service. I happened to find just that hotel. Clarion inn, off of 82, was close to friends and family, cheap, cozy, and quiet! I couldn't have asked for a better deal!

“We will not stay there again”

We have stayed at this hotel about five times and each time it seems a little worse. The room is very plain.This last time we wanted to relax and watch TV in the evening and we found that the hotel does not have cable.The complementary breakfast is very minimal so we went out for breakfast each day. There is no place to buy a paper on the premises Other than being cheap it doesn't have much to offer.
