The Homestead, Fremont, is normally a good suite hotel with competitive prices. It's right on Highway 880 so it's convenient for travel. I've stayed here a number of times without incident but on my last visit, all was not well. The hot water system was churning out brown water, the toilet was blocked and the kitchen sink had no plug to make washing up easy. I'm detecting a decline in standards that needs addressing, and soon if the management doesn't want to put off all its regular customers. Normally, I recommend this hotel but I'm not happy to do so until maintenance issues are sorted.

“My Room Has Seen Better Days”

The location is good. The front counter receptionist is very nice and friendly. The only thing is that the room I stayed in was showing signs of wear. That's it. Other than stains on the floor and on the chair and the overall worn out look of the room, it was a good deal. Maybe some of the other rooms have been remodeled. If I stay again I will ask for a remodeled room, if they have one. One more thing. I asked if they have a weekly rate. They do. It is five dollars cheaper a night but you have to commit to seven days. I'm looking for a commuter rate. Checking in on Monday and checking out in Friday. They may be able to make a deal, not sure.

“Not that great”

First they could not find my Expedia reservation even though I had a print out with the confirmation number and they had no interest in looking it up. Just asked me to pay again or go away. No shampoo in the room or at the front desk. Since I fly I don't know how they expect me to bring my own. Otherwise a cheap flop for the night.

“One of the Worst Motels”

While the outside of the building looked fine, the inside was pretty awful. I can best describe it as dirty smelly and dingy. I would NOT use the coffee mug nor two glasses in the room as both smelled terribly - I am sure the water was not very good as well. The lower mattress had a huge red stain on the side - could be wine - hopefully not blood. The light switch in the kitchen had dirt all over it as did the walls in many places. The carpet was dirty and smelly as well. The room they gave me had a working TV, but no iron, no shampoo, one working lamp, the other was missing. The bathroom sink had only hot water - the cold water did not work and adjusting the water valve under the sink did nothing. I washed my face in the kitchen sink where I had hot and cold water. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
