Hotel for one checking out Stanford's Campus
Posted Jan 4, 2013
Pros: My girlfriend loved the fish ponds
Cons: The hotel was under construction
Location: Right next to the "Harvard of the West Coast" - Stanford University......and a short walk to down town Palo Alto
Hotel was under construction in certain areas, but overall the stay was good.

The bed was quite comfortable, the shower worked properly, the bathtub bottom was non-slippery (great for this senior). the lighting was good, and both food and service at the restaurant were excellent.

Good value, but pick your room wisely
Posted Jan 3, 2013
Pros: Price.
Cons: Noise.
Location: Well located at El Camino Real and University Avenue, a stone's throw from Stanford University and good shopping/restaurants.
I've stayed at this Sheraton many times, as I have family in the area. It's a good value for the money, which means a lot. Guest rooms have been updated, but public areas (especially the hallways and elevator areas) still feel a little outdated. The check-in clerk upgraded me to a "Starwood Preferred" room on the ground floor overlooking the pool, which I appreciated. However, I discovered that night that these are the loudest rooms in the building, since late-night partiers use the ground-floor hallways most to get to their rooms. I was awakened repeatedly by loud voices and laughter as people came back. (Why do people assume that hotel walls are completely soundproofed? They never are. We can hear your every word. Be considerate when out late or up early!) Next time I'll request a room on an upper level.

Great Location
Posted Jan 29, 2013
Pros: We loved the balcony over looking the lush landscape and koi pond. Coffee maker/coffee, lge screen TV and choices, up-scale linens, toiletries.
Cons: Another ice machine on our side of the third floor. Creaky bed.
Location: Thanks for the helpful hotel "help-sheet handout". Our favorite was the delightful and delicious Paris Bakery for breakfast and lunch.
We liked our two day stay. The room was nicely appointed (except no fridge) and we pleased with the balcony over looking the lush landscaping and koi pond. There was plenty to do. We did not partake in the pool but it looked like the social center for many both day and night. We enjoyed driving around the area and found wonderful blocks of eateries, bars, and shops, in walking distance. We ate at several and particularly enjoyed the nearby Paris Bakery. Stanford University was right there, also. The whole area was lovely and high end. Perfect for walkers....perhaps a little too much walking for some, as our room was far from parking. The ice maker was 225 winding hallway steps from our room! All in all worth a little inconvenience to spend time in this large sprawling resort with a fantastic location.

Affordable Palo Alto Hotel
Posted Jan 13, 2013
Pros: The convenience to all the places I needed to go.
Location: Everything is nearby if you like to walk.
The Sheraton is in an excellent walking location to downtown Palo Alto and Stanford. The grounds and the pool are beautiful. The hotel itself is functional and seems like a great family place. Not fancy. If you want that, go next door to the Westin.

Disappointing for the Price

Small, crowded room. View of parking lot. Tiny bathroom counter space. No bathrobes. Daily rates for self-parking in an area where there is no place else to park. No mini-bar and no refrigerator.
