It was a small Westin - overall stay was fine - disappointed in the lack of a Conssiere or a hotel shuttle

Convenient to Stanford

It was very pleasant. The hotel was low key, the staff was very professional. The bartender in the bar was lovely - I went in 5 minutes before closing and she was happy to order food and take care of us.

Perfect hotel if all you want is a great room

Pros: They put their money in the right place. Excellent beds, sheets, v clean bathroom, all amneties in room.
Cons: Better breakfast buffet. More activities around pool.
Location: All shopping streets and malls nearby.
Excellent room, great staff, small property near all locations. Street and parking views. UGreat for business travelers, families. Small pool , little facilities.

Small hotel, excellent accommodations

They put their money in the right places. Excellent bed, very good bathroom, very clean. Excellent staff. Small pool, little facilities. Very central.

Hotels close to Stanford University

Pros: The hotel is beautiful, clean, and conveniently located.
Cons: Communication and full disclosure about the "Green" program
Location: University Avenue, hiking, Half Moon Bay (40 min drive)
The Westin Palo Alto is a beautiful hotel, and we did enjoy our stay there for the Stanford graduation ceremony. The prices were higher than usual that week due to the large demand for lodging close to campus. Upon checkin, we were asked if we wanted to participate in the "Green" program. I inquired if that meant that our towels and sheets would not be changed or washed during our stay. The service representative answered that I was correct. Later we discovered that what we signed up for was no maid service at all during our stay. The beds were not made up, the trash was not dumped, and the coffee and water were not replenished in our room. Who in their right mind would pay premium hotel prices and then reject the services associated with the high prices? We felt that we were misled regarding this decision. They did give us $5 per day vouchers, but when we tried to use them for cocktails, we were told that they could only be applied to food expense.

Customer Service with the Hotel wasn't helpful.

Poor experience calling into the hotel to make a reservation. I had to call expedia to make a reservation on line. The hotel staff didn't offer any deals or assistance with booking when I called at 11pm at night. However, expedia was less than the hotel staff. The hotel wouldn't offer any walk in deals when calling late at night.

Nice hotel access to center city & the university

Clean, comfortable and spacious rooms. Easily get to most any place you need to in Palo Alto. The only negative was after both my colleague and I indicated we did not want to be enrolled in their preffered guest program we were both enrolled anyway. Our guess is the person gets a monetary bonus for everyone she enrolls. This shouldn't have happened in a world class hotel as the Westin line is.

Very Fine Smaller Hotel

Pros: A Pleasant, higher End Botique type Hotel.
Location: About 5 mintues from Stanford Hospital.
I have stayed in both this Hotel and its companion Hotel next door. It is smaller and feels more cozy. I am fussy about how the bed is made and had to remake the bed every day. If you want to do laundry you must go next door and be sure to go directly to the front desk of that Hotel and ask directions. The valet parking is very efficient and the staff are pleasant and accommodating. There is a "green" class where there is step down housekeeping. I would opt tot the regular class as it is more thorough. This is a very nice upscale Hotel, very convenient to Stanford Hospital. Room service is efficient but expensive. If you are a patient be sure to asdk for the Stanford discount. I would stay there again if I was in town.
