Love the locationPosted Feb 27, 2015
Had a family weekend, had a 2 year old so love the split room so we can put the toddler down early in the living room and hang out in the bedroom.i brought pack and play so I don't know how the pull out sofa sleeper is comfort wise but the bed was horrible. Granted I have a temper pedicure mattress at home but I have slept in many hotels with much nicer beds. You would think for the price the hotel could update their mattress's. love that the hotel is right next to the park, so close to the beach. Continental breakfast was nice but not enough tables, We had to wait around for someone else to be done everytime. Next time we are going to rent a condo, for the price I think it would be better.

AVILA LIGHTHOUSE IS VERY NICE. VERY ENJOYABLEPosted Feb 10, 2015
Cons: GUEST RELATIONS. HOTEL DESK WAS NOT EMPATHETIC. AT NO TIME DID THEY OFFER ROOM CREDIT OR A "SORRY" FOR THE INCONVEINENCE.
EVERYTHING WENT FINE UNTIL MORNING OF DAY 3. WATER STARTED LEAKING FROM HEATER/AC VENT ONTO FLOOR AT ABOUT 6:00 AM. HALLWAY FLOODED AND HAD TO USE ALL TOWELS AND TRASHCANS TO CATCH THE RUNNING WATER. I CALLED FRONT DESK AND GIRL POLITELY SAID "OH SORRY, BUT WE HAVE BOILER PROBLEMS AND PLUMBER IS ON THE WAY TO FIX IT". ONE HOUR LATER, WITH WATER STILL A STEADY STREAM COMING FROM CEILING VENT, I CALLED FRONT DESK AGAIN. THE GIRL POLITELY SAID "PLUMBER IS WORKING ON IT". SHE AT NO TIME MADE ATTEMPT TO HAVE HOUSEKEEPING COME TO MY ROOM FOR ASSISTANCE. NOW AT 10:00 AM, I CALLED FOR THIRD TIME AND VOICED MY CONCERN THAT MY ROOM WAS STILL LEAKING WATER FROM THE CEILING VENT AND WAS CAUSING VERY BIG INCONVEIENCE. HOUSEKEEPING SHOWED WITH TOWELS AND MOPS TO GET RID OF STANDING WATER IN THE HALLWAY. PLUMBER CAME AND STOPPED THE LEAK. WE CHECKED OUT AT NOON.

Great locationPosted Feb 2, 2015
Pros: Great location.
Location: Avila beach restaurants, pier, and minutes from downtown SLO.
Great location right across from the beach and pier. Good for families, lots of kids at the pool (on a warm January day). Rooms new and clean, suitable for families.

Wonderful hotel in a beautiful location!Posted Feb 2, 2015
Just completed a wonderful weekend stay at Avila Lighthouse Suites. Location can't be beat - the beach and boardwalk is literally out the gate, and wonderful restaurants (Custom House) and anything else you could want are steps away. Room was very clean, beds were very comfortable, nice towels and robes. Nicely decorated, tv in both the bedroom and the living area. Loved the little patio with adirondack chairs - nice to just sit outside and enjoy the view and listen to the waves crash. The grounds were beautiful and immaculate - very tropical feeling, and it looked like the pool and hot tub areas were well maintained. We appreciated that there always seemed to be people taking care of the grounds, and I also saw a security guard patrolling at night, which was nice too. They do include breakfast, but we didn't take advantage of that as there are so many other great places to eat in Avila and San Luis Obispo, that we had to visit our favorites! Would highly recommend.

Can't beat the location. ON the beach.Posted Jan 27, 2015
We just got back from an extended weekend stay. We have two kids -an infant and a 6 year old. They had a baby cot set up in the room when we got there with a sheet and soft blanket. Nice touch. The pull out was great for the older one. She loved having her own kitchen and TV. There is nice separation between the bedroom and the front living area. The complimentary breakfast is actually great. I generally don't bother with the free breakfast but this one is 10 notche's above the rest. 5 or more choices of cereal (my daughter ate 20 bowls of Cocoa puffs since that's not something we buy at home), Danishes, bagels, donuts, fresh make your own waffles, 4 juices in dispensers, hard boiled eggs, toast, English muffins, coffee, tea. Etc. The pool is heated slightly. It was 80 degrees outside when we got there and spent a lot of time at the pool. The beach is 100 feet away. The aquarium is 100 feet away. A really awesome kids playground is 100 feet away. Amazing spot for families. The only negative thing I can say is that the walls are paper thin. We happened to bring a humidifier for the kids and it drowned out the noise very well. Perhaps bring a white noise machine if you are a light sleeper. Best choice in Avila. Pricy but we saved by price watching and chose a less expensive weekend and ate the complimentary breakfast which wasn't a sacrifice.

Too family orientedPosted Jan 8, 2015
We didn't realize how family oriented the hotel was before we got it. We had no privacy. You could also hear through the walls.

Nice hotel but...Posted Dec 9, 2014
Checked in on Sunday at the almost empty hotel and they said they could not give me a room with a better view because "that's the one I signed up for on Expedia". I may nor may not go back since it was a slightly below average view and they certainly didn't go out of their way to make my 1st visit special.

Perfect place to stay!Posted Dec 4, 2014
Pros: How clean it was and the proximity to the beach.
Cons: Overdone lighthouse theme
Location: Love the beach, the restaurants and shops nearby.
We've stayed in some sad hotels in the area while we visited our daughter at Cal Poly. This one was a refreshing change. It was quiet and great for us.
