As insane inside as it appears outside.

Posted Aug 14, 2014
Pros: It was clean, friendly and utterly bonkers.
Cons: The internet is a little slow in certain places.
Location: It's a great place to set off towards Big Sur and take the impressive coastal drive towards San Francisco.
If you have reason to stay in San Luis Obispo (or surrounds) there's absolutely no reason not to stay at The Madonna Inn. It's truly a one-off.

Good hotel with a lot of kitsch charm - provided you like that sort of thing. Great pool, lovely dining room and a good location.

Unique experience

Posted Jul 31, 2014
Pros: Lovely grounds and lots of quiet areas to enjoy a drink or conversation. Our stay was relaxing and romantic.
Location: Hiking/biking trail onsite. Close to downtown SLO and wonderful wine tasting in the area.
Last minute decision that we didn't regret. Enjoyed the pool with the waterfall and the patio bar. Went for a walk then enjoyed lunch. Every room is unique with lots of details. Great privacy; we never heard anything from any of the other rooms, which were occupied. We appreciated the attention to detail and the quality of the little things like the lotion and body wash. The staff was friendly and attentive in the restaurant and onsite shops.

Interesting place

Posted Jul 27, 2014
Pros: Pool and restaurants, gardens were inviting and nice.
Cons: There was an annoying 6yr old boy running up and down the cafeteria yelling and being a nuisance while his parents were oblivious. No one said ANYTHIN
Room was very PINK. We expected that though since this hotel is famous for having weirdly decorated rooms. Room was clean, toilet was self-warming and shower was nice. Pool was amazing--warm and large!

Nice hotel with thematics rooms

Posted Jul 22, 2014
It's a nice hotel with a different theme for each room. We got a waterfall room with a room all in rock. It was great! The only point to watch for is there's no curtain for the shower and water splash a lot into the room... so put your items away. We stayed only one night and didn't use the "resort" part of the hotel. Overall a good night sleep!

Madonna Inn

Posted Jul 8, 2014
Pros: The Madonna Inn is a landmark--- a unique and marvelous manefestation of the founders' vision
Cons: Expedia guests should receive the same treatment as everyone else
Location: we visited nearby restaurants and beautiful beaches.
The facility and the rooms are unique and wondeful-- all rooms are "thematic" and ours had great detail and furnishings that reflected Native American Culture. At check-in, however, it was clear we were not in the "same class" as guests who registered directly with the hotel or in more expensive rooms. The check-in personnel made me feel like it was a bother to register me, but other guests got smiles and polite small talk. Although check-out was at noon, our room was not ready until almost 4 and people who arrived after us in adjacent rooms were helped first and were placed in their rooms before us. To the credit of the late shift, they were apolgetic and polite.
