Excellent base for wine tasting in Paso Robles.

Posted Mar 10, 2015
Pros: Convenient to many restaurants, wineries and shops downtown.
Cons: Infrastructure and decor needs to be updated. Yes, it's a historic place but some damaged/worn features need to be repaired or replaced.
Excellent location, great room and easy access to the Paso Robles area for wine tasting, beer testing and sight seeing. We traveled to Paso Robles by Amtrak, visited 15 wineries on foot (all easily accessible from PRI) and more by wine tour. Staff was very helpful and attentive, restaurant had great food and overall, it was a great stay.

Location: Close to wine country that easily rivals Napa at its best.
Walls are thin so expect to hear everything the guests outside the door are saying. Beds were extremely soft. Not a place if you like a hard mattress. Hard water in the shower. It can be disconcerting if you are not used to it. Be prepared for the hydrogen sulfide smell from the hot springs. Meals in the restaurant are quite generous in their proportions. I asked for two scrambled eggs for breakfast and it looked like I got four.

Nice grounds

Posted Mar 3, 2015
Pros: Nice grounds
We enjoyed a walk about the well kept grounds, nice trees and shrubs. We visited the ballroom and looked at some of the hotel historical exhibits. Interesting to see the restaurant grows much of the herbs they use.

Great location and very comfortable.

Posted Feb 16, 2015
Cons: At some point, new toilets and tubs should be considered.
Location: We were able to walk to the restaurants and to the Farmer's Market in the park across the street. Shopping is also within a short walk.
Even though this is an older hotel, they have done some nice upgrades. Our room was very quiet and comfortable. Pleasing grounds.
