Upgrades to installation and staff training needed

Pros: It was inexpensive and not far from the downtown area.
Cons: This hotel needs a facelift. The entrance doors need to be changed, the bathrooms need an upgrade and the staff need training on how to treat guests.
I chose this hotel because it was dog friendly. After finding them in the AAA book, I called to find out exactly what their pet policy was. I was told that the first dog stayed for free and there was a $15 charge per stay for each other dog. That sounded very reasonable to my husband and I, so I booked it for 3 nights. The young man who checked us in was very pleasant and well mannered. I mentioned our two dogs after we had been given the key, and he said, "It's OK, we're not full anyway" and waived the pet fee. But as my husband brought them in, the young man was no longer at the desk and there was a woman there who didn't speak but broken English. She began to carry on about how we had to pay for the dogs each day. My husband was taken aback since it wasn't what I had told him and she got him into a state. He asked me to go speak with her. I told her that I had called to know what their pet policy was. When I said that the charge was "per stay" she answered "Yes, and you stay 3 nights", clearly not understanding the meaning of "per stay" as opposed to "per night". Finally, she relented. We are not picky people. The fact that the bathroom was in great need of an upgrade, soap and coffee were not replenished when the room was cleaned and the air conditioning unit was noisy, would all have been overlooked if the treatment on arrival had been better. Staff training is needed at this Red Roof so that all employees are on the same page regarding policy.

Staff & Amenities need improvements

As I arrived the staff was in a back room watching TV and when she came out she handed me my key and directed me that my room was upstairs. I then went to unload my luggage and went and grabbed a luggage rack cart and headed toward my room, all the while the staff member was staring at me but not saying one word. Well come to find out they have no elevator which made it almost impossible to carry up a luggage cart by hand, I had to unpack my things off the cart and hand carry everything anyways. Some Service. On the other hand, the room looked clean. I was excited to see that the room had a mini fridge however it didn't work. 3 Stars.

Good room overall for a low price!

We were looking for a basic, clean room for one night and that is what we got, for $65 + tax. That's pretty good! The room was updated so that it looked nice and had extra electrical outlets, which we needed. Our adult daughter ended up staying with us instead of in her dorm room, and we were not charged extra for that nor for checking out a little late. On the negative side, the sink/mirror area were not totally clean and the bed was a little hard for our tastes (under the soft pad).

la atención en la recepción super atentas, nos ayudaron en un par de cuestiones pero la housekeeper super enojan y no limpio nuestra habitación una de las noches. practico hotel para ir de compras a san marcos.
