A special hotel that you feel like home

Posted Jul 2, 2014
Pros: Cozy and warm environment. Feel like home. Great idea to have the communal TV/game rooms for social activities.
Cons: A little wet/misty because of the elevation.
Location: Lots of cows. Not far from the Poas Volcano and coffee plantations.
I had an unforgettable stay in this lodge. There are library, reading room, game room and TV room with nice deco. Our dinner was served in the library by the fireplace, which was very warm and cozy. The room has stone walls and wooden roofs. No TV in the rooms, which we don't really need. The staff was thoughtful as they provided a few ways of reducing the humidity.

We stayed here our first night in Costa Rica. What a wonderful location and introduction to the Tico culture. We hiked the property, had a beautiful room and loved the meals. The staff was extremely friendly and accomodating. Definitely recommend if you are in the Poas area.

Surprising gem near Vara Blanca

Pros: Clean, well set-up room, Poas view, hiking trails, meals. Personable, helpful staff.
Location: Poas volcano, best in early morning. La Paz Waterfall Garden- fabulous displays of rescued critters Mi Cafecito Coffee Tour- fairtrade cooperative
After a little trouble finding this hotel (google maps shows the location incorrectly) we were delighted to find a little haven tucked in behind a dairy farm. Room clean and well equipped. Dining room very accommodating. Good breakfast. Staff helpful, and take pride in taking good care of guests. Fenny gave us good advice and recommendations on places to visit in area. Spent an interesting evening chatting with Michael (owner). Enjoyed their well-marked, scenic hiking trails.

Enchanting

Beautiful and elegant property. Up high in the clouds and fairly easily found by driving from the airport. The rooms were spacious and well detailed. Great food and bar options. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and personal. They put little water heating pads in our sheets in the evening. I wouldn't recommend it for small children and babies as it had a very intimate feeling to the entire property.

A beautiful retreat to base trips to Poas area.

Relaxing lodge with great room including fireplace and California shower. We didn't have car but lodge arranged drivers for local travel and transport to airport and other centres. Onsite hiking trail through cloux forest. Look forward to returning.

Unique Lodge

Pros: Personal feel, history, beautiful lodge.
Location: The lodge is about a 20 minute drive from Poas Volcano and La Paz Waterfall Gardens. Less that one hour from the airport.
What a great find close to Poas Volcano! The lodge is set on a 400 acre dairy farm with great views and has been completely updated after suffering damage in the earthquake of 2009-be sure to check out the history and photos in the main lodge . Beautiful architecture and detail throughout! Intimate dining room that serves dinner and complimentary breakfast-excellent! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful as well.

Worth the drive up the mountain.

Perfect in every way. The staff was gracious. The rooms well appointed. The bed was welcoming and comfortable. Located at the top of the mountain with spectacular views of the countryside made this a very special location. A slice of heaven. Next time we will plan to stay longer and take hiking shoes to enjoy the trails. Deborah & George Roseville, Ca
