On the Edge of Town (or just past it)

Posted Jun 2, 2012
Pros: The front desk was helpful and friendly.
Cons: It was too far from downtown Madrid.
Location: There is a huge mall just across the street, although getting to it is not a short walk at all. The area seems industrial, and it is quiet enough.
It's an AC Marriott - we haven't had a bad one, and this was no exception. There are two things I would note however. First, if your intent is to visit the city, Madrid, this place is quite far from downtown. We like to use metro systems, and the closest stop to the hotel is about a 10-15 minute walk. Not only that, but you're in Zone 2, and need a separate ticket to ride the few stops to Zone 1, when you're in the Madrid Metro Zone 1 proper. Not only that, but you have to change trains at the junction of Zone 1 and Zone 2, something you may only find out by trial and error, as we did. Second, the continental buffet breakfast is 14 Euros! This is beyond expensive. I wish I had asked, but having been in several hotels over our 3 weeks in Spain, and not having any continental buffet cost over 5 Euros, this was a shock on checkout! The free mini-bar in the room was not offsetting. On our next visit to Madrid we will stay closer to town, perhaps in another AC Marriott.

Great Place Not Close to Metro

Posted Jul 19, 2008 on Hotels.com
This was a lovely hotel and you can't beat the price. The only issues I had were the shuttle to the Airport only started running at 7:30am and I needed to leave at 6:30am to be 2 hours early for my flight. The Metro was also about 1/4 of a mile away and at the FAR end of the north line so it took about an hour to get into downtown Madrid.

Superior Service

Posted May 27, 2008 on Hotels.com
The hotel is accessible from the train and the bus but it was easier to take the cab to the hotel from the airport and then take the bus/train to the airport for the return to the airport. We also found it very easy use the bus/train to get downtown to see the sites. I was very impressed with the service at the front desk. The gym was closed both days we were there which was a disappointment. There is a very large mall near by which is in walking distance that has restaurants and there is a grocery store near the mall. I would stay at this hotel again but would be sure to make the reservation in advanced instead of adding a day once we had arrive for the rate was much higher in person.

Outstanding Hotel

Posted Feb 7, 2008 on Hotels.com
Although this hotel was in a pueblo outside of Madrid, further than I anticipated, it was close to the airport which was what I asked for. The bed was the most comfortable bed I slept on in my 3 week stay and the hotel and my room were in excellent condition. The staff was very friendly and helpful and I would certainly use this hotel again in the future.
