We wanted self catering in San Sebastian, but found all too expensive. We decided to try Zarautz, only 20 minutes by train from San Sebastian. Talaimendi is on the outskirts of the town but there is a nearby train station and bus stop. The quality of food in the Basque country is excellent, reminding me of how I felt in rural France 30 years ago. San Sebastian has more Michelin stars per capita of population than any other city in the world.
Talaimendi Apartments are great value for money and the reception was extremely friendly. The suite we had was huge with an enormous balcony..

Very clean and well appointed room. Beautiful and very modern hotel nicely decorated. Excellent water pressure, very nice staff nice terrace outside. A bit far from everything but in quiet area. 15 min drive from San Sebastian. Difficult to find with my GPS since the hotel in on a 3 yr old road (the hotel is not even 2 yrs old).
Only negative are the room doors which you can hear being slammed at night. You hear everything that is going on in the corridors.

A small but very nice hotel, a short walk from the old walled city and from the main town. Spacious clean, modern rooms. All guests are given a complimentary free cocktail, with an appetiser, on the evening of your choice. All staff we met, spoke good English and were very helpful.

Very good experience at the hotel. Located approximately 3 blocks from the beach. Quiet location, friendly and helpful staff. The rooms were clean and comfortable, easy check in and easy check out. Very willing to provide you with information about the local scene. I would recommend and definitely stay at San Sebastian Hotel in the future. It is located in the Andorreta Beach area so it's not close to the restaurants and night life (although it is a nice walk and definitely doable). We had no problem and the view is spectacular on the walking path.
