“Great place to stay at San Simeon”

This is a great place to stay when visiting Hearst Castle at San Simeon. What most impressive is that it has its own beach with great views. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the room is very clean and the property is well maintained. Although the price is on the high side compared to other surrounding hotels/motels/Inns, it is worth it. I would highly recommend this place to other visitors.

Area recommendations
Cambira, a small town with a downtown having many small shops for food, coffee, drinks, and gifts; and Big Sur, a natural beauty by the coast of CA Highway 1.

“Can't wait to go back next year.”

We loved the hotel so much we booked another night right away. Next year we will be coming back with our adult kids,

Must see
Hearst Castle was awesome. the Elephant seals were awesome. We drove up highway one to Ragged Point. We spent a few hours walking around, enjoying the view and watching the Monarch Butterfly's ,we had lunch in the wonderful restaurant. The beach right outside our room was beautifull and peacfull, we had a perfect romatic get away. The hotel was well kept, the rooms had everything we needed or even expected. The staff was friendly & helpfull. We will be going back.

“Great Location”

Beachfront with fires going at night so you can sit and admire the stars while listening to the ocean--great location, comfortable room. Highly recommended.

“Will definitely stay there again!”

It was wonderful to wake up to the noise of the crashing waves. The hotel location is perfect for a resting and relaxing getaway

“Gorgeous Setting”

The location was great because it was close to Cambria and also to Hearst Castle. It was wonderful to be able to walk down to the beach and search for shells and rocks, and just enjoy the surroundings. The hotel is clean, and the bon fires in the evening are a nice touch. I used the laundry facilities while I was there and was impressed with their cleanliness as well.

“What a nice experience of our "happy anniversary"!”

Even our two dogs were so impressed about this nice hotel, we will come again next year and many many years after!

“Great location, right on the beach.”

So close to Hearst Castle and the Elephant Seal Rookery. Restaurant also very good. And enjoyed sitting by one of the three firepits during the evening.

“Would use again in cooler months”

Overall we had a great stay. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. We do have a couple of complaints though. I was very surprised that the rooms do not have air conditioning. Our room never went below 80 degrees. Even at night where the beach temps went down into the low 60's. They did bring us a fan which helped a little. Unless you are willing to keep the drapes and windows open at all times for some relief which we were not, make sure you go in the cooler winter months. We went in mid Oct. The other is not that big of deal but we had a phone book sized stain in the carpet right in front of the bed/nightstand. Other than that the room was very clean. The restaurant on the property was very inexpensive and the food was good. The fire pits on the beach at night were very nice to relax in front of.

“Stunning ocean view”

This Best Western was an excellent choice for us. We have a bulldog and it was pet friendly - the only complaint is that you are not allowed to leave your pet in your room at any time; however, they do allow pets in the pool area, on the beach, near the jacuzzi, and at the fire pits at night. The hotel is located on a bluff in San Simeon. You can hear the waves crashing in every room, the sea air is lovely, and they light bonfires every night near the bluff where guests can stay warm late into the evening. Nice rooms, excellent amenities. Room service has no upcharge - perfect since we had to stay in the room with the dog. This hotel could get a 5 rating if they'd let well-behaved pooches be alone a bit so people could socialize without them. (We always bring a crate, so it really would not havce been an issue.)

Area recommendations
Hearst Castle is right up the road...sea lions at Moonstone Beach a short walk in the other direction.
