Heading to Hearst Castle

Posted Jul 2, 2014
Pros: Breakfast was good. Room was spacious.
Location: There is not as much to do in Cambria as other nearby towns. This would be SO fun for a girls weekend. Lots of little artistic shops to browse.
We stayed at the Cambria Pines Lodge before heading up to Hearst Castle in San Simeon. It is a huge complex. It would be beautiful for a destination wedding. Lovely gardens. We were in a standard room though, and I would have loved to check out the little cabins.

Nice hotel near town

Posted Jun 29, 2014
The hotel is in a nice forest setting but you can walk down a trail to the main street of town with lots of shopping and food. It is not a far walk but it is steep and unlite at night. The breakfast was great. Our room was large with a fireplace. We saw dear right outside our room.

A delightful experience

Posted Jun 26, 2014
Cons: The breakfast was not quite what I had hoped for. The potatoes were delicious, but the balance of what was offered was typical "free hotel breakfast.
Location: The location was beautiful...set among the pines. We really felt "away." We visited the town, Hearst Castle, did wine tasting and the elephant seals
We were pleasantly surprised by the fact that, even though this was large property, it never felt like we were surrounded by people. The garden was lovely and the room was surprisingly large. Overall, it was a delightful experience and I am eager to visit again!

Great place for a getaway

Posted Jun 25, 2014
We stayed here about eight years ago for a wedding and really liked it. We went back for two nights recently and liked it even more . The grounds are beautiful, the rooms are very comfortable , and the staff is very friendly. The room rates are also reasonable . Cambria is one of our favorite places , and we see already planning our next trip. We will definitely stay at the Cabria Pines Lodge again.

The suites are private with no adjoining rooms. Property is very nice with lots of walking trails. My wife and I saw deer and turkey when walking around. Breakfast in the morning was outstanding as was dinner in the restaurant. I would definitely stay here again.

wished we'd booked for more days!

Pros: breakfast was plentiful, gracious, and ability to sit out in their fabulous gardens settings made it a great morning starter. Nice little bar.
Cons: Just a bit more sink vanity area or under shelving for each persons kit.
Location: Great little town to walk and shop and EAT! Close to Moonstone Beach area, Hearst castle, drive up to the 17 mile drive a bit further north and just p
Good spot to start from for a non-crowded experience. Close to everything but not on top of anything.
