Nice & Clean

Posted Apr 17, 2014
Pros: It clean and nice.
Cons: Better breakfast choices
Location: Near Hearst Castle which is a National and California Historical Landmark mansion located on the Central Coast of California
I would highly recommend this Days Inn. It looks like it was recently renovated. Everything was clean and nice. I would stay there again.

Great for the Most Part

Posted Apr 9, 2014
Overall good experience. The main issue was when we first checked into the hotel, we were given a room that was just used (literally trash in the trash cans, bed a mess, towels used and a tip on the pillow). Told the hotel staff and they instantly changed our room and even upgraded it to the "beach view" room. Clean but the bath tub drain drained slowly.

Don't trust the description/pics

We paid more for a room with an Ocean View. When we got there it was on the opposite side of the Highway. If you looked over the hotels across the street with the real ocean view, you can catch a glimpse of the ocean. When I asked the front desk person about it her reply was "yeah I often wonder why they call it an ocean view room." I think the picture they show in the advertisement is actually from a room across the street at a different hotel. Next time, I will pay extra and stay at the Best Western directly across the street. The had the real view, including firepits/seating outdoors and the restaurant next door had the best breakfast. I will never stay at another Days Inn.

Nice hotel and it has really big rooms!

Posted Apr 5, 2014
Pros: Big rooms, clean and comfortable!
Cons: Maybe a bigger tv set?
Location: On PCH at 5 miles to the Hearst Castle and the elephants seals spots!
We stayed 1 night there with 2 kids and we did not regret! The carpet looks new and the room was very comfortable ( I used to work in hotel business!). It was close to the Hearst Castle and for me looks fresh renewed. The breakfast was continental and it had plenty of items including huge pancakes. Very good hotel! I will stay again for sure if I am traveling there again!

NICE

Posted Mar 25, 2014
This was a nice stay. I was on the second floor and I could see out to the ocean from my window. The room also had a balcony where you could sit outside and watch the sunset over the ocean. Otherwise it was an okay stay. The breakfast room was very small with limited seating but there was a selection. The hotel was also within an easy drive to Hearst Castle and the beach which was perfect!

Sleepy in San Simeon

Posted Mar 24, 2014
Pros: The in-room fridge and microwave made for ideal snack storage and prep. The ultra-comfortable bed was hard to leave. Balcony was roomy and private.
Cons: I had to retrieve a new room key from the office multiple times during my stay. Not a major inconvenience, but it did become a bit monotonous.
Location: Lovers of nature and geography will be enthralled. Decent restaurants nearby.
I moved to Austria 5 years ago, but I'm originally from So. Cal. Whenever I go back for a visit, a stay in San Simeon is mandatory. On this particular occasion, I couldn't wait to leave the noise, pollution and gridlock of L.A. behind me and head to the majestic beauty of coastal Central California. No shopping malls, no theme parks and no congested freeways, San Simeon instead offers up some of the most breathtaking scenery available in The Golden State. Scenic drives and leisurely hikes in the vicinity never failed to deliver gorgeous panoramas. The rugged, rocky coastline and smooth, green mountains make for a dramatic contrast. Wild life sightings were plentiful and varied: sea otters to sea elephants, horses to zebras, humming birds to turkey vultures. Spending the majority of my time out and about, I needed a quiet, comfortable room to unwind in, and the Days Inn was perfect for me.

Much more than I expected; ocean view room

Posted Mar 24, 2014
Pros: The nice staff
Cons: For the price point, it was above par.
Location: Highly recommend the evening tour at Hearst Castle. Paso Robles wine country is great. We actually had more fun than we do when we go to Napa!
The motel was very clean and we felt very safe. The housekeeping men were very friendly and you could tell they take pride in keeping their motel shipshape. The man always greeted us as we left our room and was excited to hear what we had planned for the day and provided recommendations of nature trips to take. They were a bit loud in the morning while we were sleeping, but it was understandable as they were cleaning other rooms (and perhaps moving furniture. We would likely stay here again if we were passing thru town.

Very nice and reasonable compared to other place in San Simeon, minutes from Hearst Castle
