You get what you pay for.

For the price it was what should be expected. The rooms are of a smaller size but comfortable with updated beding. Restaurant is on the expensice side, but very tastey and pool although heated was dirty. Routine cleaning would should that issue. Over all I would recommend and return it is in a nice proximity to the beach, we could hear the ocean waves from our room. I enjoyed our stay

Clean and convenient hotel close to the beach!

Posted Mar 29, 2015
Pros: Location, cleanliness.
Cons: No suggestions.
Location: Located a few minutes from Hearst Castle, the elephant seal beach, and across from the beach.
The staff was very helpful, and check in and check out were easy. The hotel is located across the highway from the beach, so is in an excellent location. The rooms were clean and quiet, with a cute deck area off the back to sit and enjoy the ocean breeze. Would definitely recommend this location!

Nice room, restaurant had good food, karaoke was fun. No instructions on how to use the coffee pot. I'd stay again, no doubt.

enjoyable day!

if you take into account that this is a roadside motel, not a five star hotel, it is a very decent place to stay! we had a nice view of the ocean from our room, a short stroll across the road to the beach, the room had all the necessities and was kept very clean They keep maintenance up on the outside with landscaping and we were watching as they were washing all the windows. it has a restaurant to eat, (a little pricey) a mini market and a liquor store with fishing and sporting goods. we watched beautiful sunsets from my room! It was a reasonable price and I would definitely stay there again!

Gutes Hotel als Zwischenstopp

Posted Mar 20, 2015

Go with a different hotel!!!

Pros: Close to Hearst Castle and the beach. Bar and Grill at the front of property.
Hours are wrong, the office closes at 10pm, not 11pm. Rude Hotel Staff at check-in and check-out. Hot, stuffy, and stinky rooms with no circulation. Even by the beach, some sort of fan would've gone a long way. Upon check-in you sign a form that there is a "quite curfew" of 10pm but with no one there to enforce that rule, you run the risk of noisy neighbors that will keep you awake until all hours of the morning. The beds were uncomfortable for us, they are old, lumpy and sink in the middle. Since it was muggy in the room we had to leave the windows open which wouldn't have been an issue if it was actually quite outside. Our downstairs neighbors were actually outside partying when the night hotel staff member left around 10pm, the start of the "quite curfew", where they stayed until around 1:30am. The only thing we enjoyed was the bar with Karaoke, hosted by an Elvis at the front of the property. We hung out there since it was a nice night in the hopes that our room would cool down with all the windows open, it didn't. The staff there was nice and drinks were reasonably priced.

San Simeon

Pros: Location
Cons: The smell and ventilation in the room.
Location: Hearst Castle, beach, Elephant Seals, dinner in Cambria at Black Cat (wonderful restaurant).
This hotel suited our travel as far as price and location, but had that old motel smell and feel. There was a frig, which was great, and the motel sat right across from a lovely and quiet beach.

This looks like a new built motel. Very good.

Pros: We like its good location and the restaurant.
Cons: Room facility.
We like the new restaurant specially. We usually are very disappointed on the meals in this area. but the new seafood restaurant of this motel is very good and we ate two meals there. The room are clean and location is also very good. We just hope that this is a four star hotel so that we can enjoy more of the facility.

Bed Clothes smelled bad and pillows were too hard. Bath accessories were very nice.
