60's style family resortPosted Jul 3, 2014
Pros: Family atmosphere with activities outside as well as location to Cambria, easy walking distance to beach, and it was close to Hearst Castle.
Cons: I personally would update the bedding, seemed like this would be a good invesment. Also, improve breakfast. Super 8 style food choices being served
Location: It's an easy 3 minute walk to the beach and a viewing area. Restaurants and shops all within a five minute drive- either on the coast or in Cambria.
We were looking for a typical motel/type room along the beach with that 60's flare we remember from road trips with our parents. We found it! Staff very accommodating and helpful. Rooms large and very clean with operable windows for lots of fresh air. The bedding and furniture is dated, but still comfortable. We loved going out at sunset and golfing on the "mini 9 hole golf course" they had. What a view from Hole 3 with the ocean right there and crashiing waves! It made for a very beautiful setting. We loved the location to Cambria and the Hearst Castle. There was plenty to do nearby and great restaurants in Cambria to sample as well.

Older hotel, beautiful grounds and on the ocean.Posted Mar 31, 2014
Pros: The people are very nice and the location is beautiful. It is also right next to the ocean.
Cons: This hotel needs a huge overhaul.
This hotel is an older, non updated hotel. Don't expect down comforters and beautiful modern furniture at this hotel. The furnishings are old, but clean. I haven't stayed at a hotel that has a wall heater, a bottle opener attached to the wall in the bathroom and an actual real key to open the door in a very long time. It is located on the ocean and has the cutest 9 hole/ 3 par golf course. Truly it is old and needs much updating, but it is clean and very quiet.

Attractive modern motel with great beach views, quiet location, not far from a really good restaurant (Robin's in Cambria).

Pros: Cute old-timey feel to the rooms, kinda vintage. Its not a modernized look, but I love the charm of the rooms. high ceilings.
Cons: small windows in the bathroom let air in constantly made for a cold trip to the bathroom in the morning.
Location: Close to restaurants, beach, walking trails. Guests were sunbathing at the pool.
Cute hotel a little down the ways from the main row of hotels on moonstone beach. A quick walk down to the ocean, great views.

Quiet retreatPosted Feb 17, 2014
Pros: All the above.
Cons: A spa would be nice.
Location: Beach walk, short drive to Hearst castle and the elephant seals, even shorter drive to Cambria.
Beautiful location, next to the beach and boardwalk, quiet in the midst of trees (you seem to be separate from the rest of the motels on Moonstone Blvd., courteous staff, clean, warm, friendly people, reasonable price.

What I really enjoyed about San Simeon Pines Resort is how the hotel blends in with the natural surroundings.

A great place to relaxPosted Oct 29, 2013
Pros: The location, the scenery, the down home comfort and the absolute pleasantness of everyone on staff.
Cons: In room coffee maker was a bit tempermental. I've heard that WiFi was non-existent, but I don't see that as a negative.
Location: Great place as a home base. Hearst Castle, Morro Bay, Cambria, wine-tasting opportunities, and beautiful scenery in all directions is easy to access
San Simeon Pines Seaside is an excellent place to unwind and relax. Perfect as a 'home base' to explore up and down the central coast. Beach is just across the road with unparalled scenery. Nearby Cambria and San Simeon offer abundant eating establishments, dozens of coffee houses and pubs. All good. As for the hotel itself, what others might refer to as "dated", seemed comfortable and simply unpretentious to us. It's a nice place to stay.
