Meh...Posted Oct 9, 2014
Good size room and bed, with almost a sea view. Good location, just off the main road. Breakfast - disaster, it's not how you want to start a day. Very little choice, served in reception (?) with some seating outside - if you lucky and want to share your breakfast with some wild birds.

Don't judge a book by it's cover...Posted Sep 9, 2014
Pros: Close to Hearst Castle.
Cons: My wife uses a cane. She was very upset about having to use stairs. Call ahead to reserve a 1st floor room if you're going to be late, like we were.
Location: Hearst Castle.
The exterior of this hotel needs a lot of work to reflect the up-graded interior. The hotel needs a good power-wash and several coats of paint. There is chicken-wire tacked to the celling over the covered walkway. Insect bodies and god-knows-what else is caught in cobwebs that must have been there for months. I would have passed this place up just by the seedy, dirty and dated look of the exterior. We were pleasantly surprised; however, that the rooms were quite nice. They must have been recently renovated. Our room was decorated with dark wood furniture in a pleasing color scheme. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. Breakfast was served in a small area off the lobby and eaten on the patio facing the water. It was very crowded, not enough room to make breakfast, fix cup of coffee etc. All in all, it was an OK experience for us. What more can you ask, for a basic over-night hotel.

We made this reservation last minute at a great price not knowing what we would find. We enjoyed our short stay and feel its a good place.

Good Beach View RoomsPosted Aug 26, 2014
Pros: Ocean view, clean modern room.
Location: It's near all kinds of Central coast attractions, like Hearst Castle, the Elephant seals just north, and San Luis Obispo as well.
Although from the outside this place is nothing special, the rooms are clean, comfortable and have a wonderful ocean view. Otherwise it's a pretty basic place that costs more than it should because of location, location, location. It's a great jumping off point to explore the coast, and if you go to Hearst Castle (which I did not) it's the perfect resting spot.

Better nearbyPosted Aug 14, 2014
Pros: Basic hotel however breakfast was nice enough
Location: Hearst Castle
This place is very near Hearst Castle however a small trip (about 30 mins) a bit further down the coast to Cacycos is worth the drive, a nicer place to stay with more choice of places and things to do. Much nicer then San Simeon.

It was just ok. We tried to eat BFK there the first morning but it is difficult as there are NO tables inside and outside where there were tables was wet from fog. We went to a restaurant on the 2nd morning.

The outside doesn't look the greatest but the inside is pretty nice. The continental breakfast was very good and impressive.

Location was very close to our destination & also to the beach & other sights. The management was very friendly, room was clean & comfortable & up to date. The breakfast could be improved. Other places offer very hot food & theirs was not. Selection was ok. The outside of the building definitely needs improvements & cleaned up. Did not like seeing the fire extinquisher inside a broken case in the hall way.

Central coast stayPosted Jul 22, 2014
The room was ok freshly renovated, but on the cheap. Low quality vinyl windows that are coming apart the stairs were no very stable, the outside needs work and the breakfast was one of the worst I have ever had. In all the hotel should only be a 2 star at best.
