“You get what you paid for- maybe slightly overpriced !!!”

The hotel is about 3 miles from Hearst castle on hwy 1. Even it is not a ocean front property, you could see the ocean from the room( depending on the location). The room was comfortable and the bathroom was clean and had small refriegator but no microwave. Since the hotel consisted of 2 buildings seperated by a Mexican restaurant, you have to use the front street to get to the other building. The breakfast menu was very average. Also they gave us 10 percent off coupon for the Mexican restaurant. The food was very ordinary. Overall it was ok experience specially for a short trip.

“Not Impressed”

Close to Hearst Castle was the good point....rooms were ok but I expected better.

“great front desk”

We were staying for one night before heading back to las vegas, Front desk Jeff, made me a cup of coffee at 5am so I could get going, very helpful. The place was pleasant and very clean but no elevator and no way to keep fan on without the light too. There was no way to control the temp in the room.

“Good Value for the stay”

We stayed two nights and were satisfied with location to the Hearst Castle. But we were unhappy with the Continental Breakfast. We have had a more variety at other hotels in our travels. We were surprised to the lack of fresh fruit and non sugary breakfast food.

“Average + Hotel in A+++ LOCATION!!”

Hotel itself is not too impressive but has everything you need and can ask for. I was completely happy overall with the hotel. Beds can be more comfy but the location of the hotel makes up for it. Conveniently located about 5 min drive from Hearst Castle and Cambria. Would recommend.

“Nicely Done”

IIRC, this used to be a roadside inn and not a hotel. It has been nicely renovated and the service is quite satisfactory. The room and beds are comfortable. Like most lodging places along the Pacific coast, the room does not have air conditioning as it is relatively cool at night. Heater is located as a built-in wall unit. The room may feel slightly stuffy initially but use of the ceiling fan and opening the windows for a few minutes resolved this issue. Continental breakfast is as expected and the afternoon wine for $5 a glass is a nice beak after a day's travel. The lounge/breakfast area is a tad small for the number of rooms but satisfactory. The car forum group got good use of this area as a great meeting place to chat and get-together. Wifi is fine at the lounge area but very weak and slow in the room. Overall, I will return to stay at this same place whenever in the San Simeon/Cambria area.

“Nice stay”

We were on the first floor. It was quiet. The bed was comfortable, everything was clean. The web site stated that they had roll away cots, however when I asked for one in case we needed it, they said they did not have any at this location. My only complaint would be the one-cup coffee maker....I usually bring my own coffee for a four cup pot, so was a little disappointed. They do have continental breakfast, so their focus is probably not on in room coffee. I am not a breakfast person so cannot comment on their breakfast selection. Something to be aware of, is that the city/area has a water shortage, so the jets in the bath jacuzzi have been disabled. Also the water pressure in the shower is low. The location was great. We were able to walk to the beach. I would stay here again.

“Love IT!!!”

We stayed in early May of 2011. The Feel was warm, relaxing and the service was awesome! Close to the beach, breakfast was a great diversity to suit anyone. The decor and furniture was very nice...Very quiet. We loved the fireplace and flat screen TV and the beds were vey comfortable!! We are coming to stay in late October and ride our bikes!!! May we suggest "Main Street BBQ" for the best ribs evarrrrr!!!!

“Great for Hearst Castle”

We were delighted with this hotel, as for the price we did not know what to expect! Our room was spacious and spotless with coffee making facilities and a fridge. There is a swimming pool which several people appeared to be enjoying. We were in an annexe and the downside was that there was no lift and we had heavy luggage. Breakfast was basic with not a great choice but a bonus for the price. This hotel is really only situated in a spot for visiting Hearst Castle but is ideal for that purpose. The hotel recommend a restaurant across the main road which means using the car but we ate at the Best Western restaurant which had a good choice at a reasonable rate. We were very satisfied with this hotel for our overnight stay but would not have wanted to stay longer in that area.
