Has potentialPosted Apr 9, 2015
Pros: The hotel was bright and the amenities could be nice.
Cons: Bedding in hotel rooms definitely in need of updating. Generally a little run down. Staffing in snack bar, etc. needs to be improved.
Came from Great Wolf Lodge and would rank this hotel lower than the Lodge. Water park was nice although some facilities were not in operation when we were there.

Cold waterpark!Posted Feb 9, 2015
Pros: My son had a great time in the wave pool, wish I wasn't too cold to enjoy it with him!
Location: That was great!
The water was too cold for my liking and the waterpark did not feel like 82 degrees! I was not comfortable! Cost was supposed to be $159 we were charged $172 when we got there.

Fun place just a little cold throughout hotelPosted Feb 9, 2015
Pros: So many fun things to do
Cons: Warmer water and warmer hotel hallways
Location: We loved the location
We had a really fun time. Their was a lot to do and our kids loved the wave pool. We just wish it was warmer throughout the hotel. We were freezing walking back to our hotel room after being at the waterpark. The water could have been a little warmer to to make it comfortable.

Clean hotel with close drive to Cedar Point.Posted Aug 24, 2014
Pros: Hotel was clean and had a waterpark as well as activities for children (ie, crafts, story time, movie time)
Cons: Not for the scent sensitive. Heavy use of Febreeze in main common areas and rooms.
Location: Lots of restaurants located within a 10 minute drive (Olive Garden, Mc Donalds, Bob Evans, Chipoltle) as well as a Mall, Walmart, Target and AAA.
Hotel was clean and located within a 10 minute drive to Cedar Point. Staff was friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the waterpark. It was a nice way to end a day. There was a hotel on site with a wide variety of food items on the menu. Nice sitting areas both inside and outside the hotel. Located within a short drive to Milan Dr. which had a multitude of restaurants as well as a mall a AAA and some big box stores.

Not worth the price!Posted Aug 13, 2014
Expedia told me our room would be $199/night with all taxes and fees included. When we arrived at the hotel they charged us $215 & said we would have to argue with expedia to get the price I was told. The decor is very dated. Our "queen" sized beds were no larger than a full and caused me severe back pain. The day we went to use their indoor Waterpark it was packed, because soak city had shut down for the day due to weather, so apparently they send people to castaway bay! Lovely! Long story short, this hotel should not be more than $75/night. Wish I would've stayed at Great Wolf Lodge.

Nice hotel close to Cedar PointPosted Aug 11, 2014
Pros: It was clean and water works.
I enjoyed staying at this hotel along with my family. We went to Cedar Points and it was very crowded. So went back to hotel and decided to enjoy the water works and kids absolutely loved it. Worth all the money. You will also get couple of coupons which you can use during next stay - almost half the cost. There are not too many restaurants nearby but you can certainly enjoy UDF and McDonald which is 2 min drive - if you wish you can walk there. We already planning to stay here next time.

Nice settingPosted Jul 21, 2014
Pros: Setting Rooms seemed clean
Cons: updates to hallways (Carpet, paint or wallpaper)
Overall we enjoyed our stay. Waterpark is smaller than some others but nice for all ages.Very warm. Water in toddler area seemed to be a lil warmer for them which I liked. Lifeguards very attentive. Food in waterpark was just ok and pricy, but The TGI Fridays connected is very nice, had good food and you can look out at the water. Had Snoopy and bedtime story for children. My children enjoyed but the people working this department could use some enthusiasm. The hotel itself is older and could use some remodeling.Had a bit of a musty smell in the halls. If you have been to Kalahari you may be dissapointed in some ways. That being said Kalahari is newer to be fair. I liked Castaway because I could keep track of my toddlers easier, and the lounge chairs are arranged right in front of the toddler area so you can easily relax and see them. My teenager likes a lot more slides so he likes Kalahari better. The wave pool is nice but does not have tubes to float on. If you are into lazy river, they don't have one, but does have a coaster. I did like the tropical atmosphere though.Stores were nice. So there were things that I liked and didn't like but we all still had a good time!

Pros: having the indoor pool for the kids
Cons: the elevator
Location: Cedar Point amusement park and soak city
We had a joyful experience with our family. Recommend that they get the elevator fix. It seems to be broken down often and this is the third time we've stayed here. The breakfast buffet at Mike Mango was well worth your money!

Nice family weekendPosted Sep 2, 2013
I was a little worried cause I hadn't heard much about castaway bay but it was great! Kids loved the waterpark and the staff was awesome. You could tell the hotel was a bit older but was so clean and well kept it didn't matter.
