Disappointed

We have stayed at Country Inn and Suites several times at different locations. This location was just so so. First, the positives. The staff were very friendly and the woman that does the breakfast in the morning was sweet as can be! Now the negative: It was a huge disappointment that the hotel's pool was closed for 30 days for maintenance since I chose this hotel because of the pool for my kids. A pool is always a must when we travel and my kids were highly disappointed they didn't get to swim on our trip. Also, our room had a musty smell and a few things were broken in the room like the bar in the refrigerator and part of the blackout curtain. These items were still usable but still should have been fixed before we checked in. Also, the air conditioning unit didn't work as efficiently as it should have. I would set it to cool and my little boy and I would wake up sweating. Luckily my husband always travels with a fan so that helped. The breakfast was decent. But we've had a much better selection at other Country Inns. This location offered eggs with potatoes on our first day and sausage with French toast on our second day. Plus the usual waffles, oatmeal, toast, bagels, cereal and juices/coffee; so the selection was good. Just not as good as the other CI's we've stayed at. All in all the hotel was ok but I would not have stayed here had I known about the pool in advance. I have contacted the corporate office about this issue and I'm waiting on a response from them.

Cons: All is good
Location: Very accessible to all attractions, Marblehead, Catawba, etc.
We make a yearly trip with my mom and discovered Country Inn & Suites last year. Made sure we returned because we had a good stay. Will probably return next year.
