Great for families with young children

Posted Jun 15, 2014
Pros: Nice rooms, big, clean, microwave and refrigerator. Grounds are well lit, clean and you feel safe wandering about the place.
Cons: The bathroom was a bit cramped with the sink out in the room. I can imagine the pandemonium of a family with small kids.
Location: Beer is sold in gas stations, not stores. (I had to ask.) I've no idea where you'd get liquor since I wasn't looking for it. Cedar Point is close.
I stayed a week with my sixteen year old. We came for Cedar Point and took a drive to Niagara Falls. (A long drive, but worth it!) We stayed in a family suite and it was roomy and comfortable. The activities appeared to be great fun for the youngsters, and the water park is very much geared to younger kids. Older children will need to find their thrills elsewhere. The only downside was possibly due to a misunderstanding. My son was terribly jet-lagged and so we stayed in the room longer that day. I just told the maid coffee and fresh towels are fine. The same happened the next day. The day after that, the room very much needed serviced and we were out all day and came back to...the same untidy room we had left that morning. I called the desk and they said housekeeping was gone, I said fine but make sure they clean it tomorrow. I was told I should call housekeeping in the morning to ask them to clean the room. I had to wonder if this was what the other guests were doing, it was a first for me. Anyway, we got back from Niagara Falls and the room was clean but I did need to go down to ask for some coffee packets. Back to the good stuff, they have a couple of restaurants, a bar and plenty of free parking. They are close to anything that is interesting in Sandusky and overall, the experience was a good one. I would recommend this resort to others.

Pros: Very kid-friendly.
Location: Went to African Safari park after kids were tired of the water.
Room had a couple issues that suggested it was overdue for maintenance (patio door was broken and some sort of hinge had been installed--it wouldn't open); bleach-like stains on the carpet. But neither interfered too much with the stay (would've been nice to go outside to enjoy the evening). And the staff was unfailingly polite and helpful.

Great for kids, and adults too!

Pros: Great place for the family.
Cons: Better options for food.
Location: Near Cedar Point. Shopping mall close by to pick up anything you might have forgotten. Quaint Lakeside/Marblehead community a short drive away.
Was looking for a place to stay near Cedar Point that offered something to do when not at the park. Ended up spending more time at Great Wolf Lodge that at Cedar Point. A little pricey but worth it. Went over Memorial Day weekend but did not feel it was crowded at all. Nice that they only allow guests to use the facilities and do not sell day tickets like other places. Did not like the breakfast restaurant. They serve family style, which means they bring out platters of eggs, bacon, sausage, and hash browns. Some people may like this but was a big waste of food for my family of three. Would recommend going to Dennys or Cracker Barrel nearby. Overall, a fun experience. I would go back.

Great wolf lodge

Cons: Putting the age group on the web site or telling people that.
If we had known that is was geared more for little kids we would have not went. We have 15-16 yr olds and they didn't enjoy it. It should be posted on the web site the age group. Won't be back there.

Fun for kids

Overall we enjoyed our stay. The hotel staff was friendly. The hotel upkeep is good but has room for improvement in the finer details. For a quick weekend getaway this was a fun choice and the kids were sad to leave!

The hotel experience was enjoyable!

Pros: It had a lot of activities for the children
Location: The mall and plenty of restaurants are near by
The Great Wolf Lodge was a good experience for my family. I have 4 children. My oldest daughter is 16, my twin boys are 10, and my youngest son is 9. They ALL had FUN! If you plan on going, a 2 to 3 day stay is more than sufficient. Aside from swimming they have a game called Magi Quest. It was a little expensive since everything is 4X the cost for me. But the boys played for hours. So they were entertained and had a lot of fun. They also have a decent arcade. We didn't eat on premise but they do have a few restaurants and places to eat. We packed breakfast and ate in our room. It has a really tiny area with a fridge and microwave. The area surrounding the Great Wolf lodge has a lot of places to eat. Overall it was a good experience. My family would definitely go back. We would time it when Cedar Point is opened since it is 10 minutes away.

Great hotel loads of Family fun!

The kids enjoyed the water park and Wizards Quest. This is a smaller water park with less to offer than some of the others in the area.

Nice for a winter's day

Pros: I liked the indoor waterpark and spacious room.
Cons: The waterpark could be enlarged and the amenities more reasonably priced.
Location: We went to Sandusky Ohio which has a large amusement park and drive through Safari. We came just to enjoy the indoor waterpark.
My wife and I took our three children (age 12, 11 and 8) to enjoy a waterpark while we relaxed from the cold. We stayed for two nights, but one would have been more than enough. The waterpark was enjoyable, but not as large as expected. The adult whirlpool in the waterpark was just warm and not very relaxing. My wife and I did enjoy the few larger water slides with our kids, but the waterpark and activities seemed better uited for younger children. The room was spacious and clean, but the micro-fridge was smaller than advertised. The staff was friendly and we might return for another visit when it is cold and snowy out. For summer, a hotel near the beach and an amusement park or outdoor waterpark will be better for our crew.
