Excellent seafront location
A lovely large old hotel overlooking sea in San Remo. It was obviously very grand in it's day. Staff were friendly and helpful. We were upgraded to a room with a balcony overlooking the pool area. Room was a good size and lots of toiletries provided in bathroom. Pool was lovely, a good size and a with poolside bar. We found space easily but in peak season i imagine it would very busy as space around pool is limited in comparison to size of hotel. Excellent location for beach and to walk to town centre. Supermarket and shops vlise by. Plenty parking.

The hotel is of a grand style but is now just faded grandeur. The rooms are acceptable but a superior with a sea view - had the view but the room was squished in a corner. The air conditioning did not work even at maximum. The work area was a tiny desk with a battered chair. The bath has a shower fitted over it - no idea how it could be described as a rainfall shower. In addition the restaurant was closed and the pool was not open after 5pm (end of season is apparently 15 September). Then after just 1.5 hours by the pool they tried to charge us €14 for use of sun beds….they rapidly removes the charge as we had not been informed. I got the sense they did that a lot! Breakfast - passable but coffee was some of the worst I have tasted…. This is Italy …coffee from a vacuum flask really!!

Wouldn't recommend for the price.
Early check in was nice. On a busy street with lots of noise most all night long. Room had a partial sea view but not on water. Air con didn't work well, so very hot in room. Old Hotel. $7 Charge for each, and having to make a reservation for using a lounge at Pool not good! Internet did not work due to the location of our room. no coffee available until 7:30am. Left before breakfast served.

I like the grand feel of the hotel. The pool was my favourite part. The breakfast was good. The hotel front desk staff was not the most friendly. Great location near the old town and best beaches. Nice stay.

This hotel is a classic in the grand style. Breakfast in what was the magnificent ballroom. It’s past glories are from a previous time but it is still magnificent

Kindest staff ever! We loved this hotel so much that we came back the next week for 2 more nights! Super clean rooms and we had a beautiful view over the sea! It is also easy walking to everywhere!

I liked the old charm and character. The location was excellent. I appreciated the on-site parking. My room was nice and had a beautiful, direct view of the sea. The hotel could use some sprucing up. But overall I enjoyed my stay. Excellent value.

Love it - even though it’s dated, it’s retro!
Love this hotel, it’s quirky, great staff, amazing pool. Hey, it’s dated, you feel how grand it would’ve been in the 1800’s when it was built.

Perfect position close to the beaches and restaurants. Spacious rooms adequately equipped. Parking around the hotel itself is scarce and not easy to operate.

Excellent stay and close to all amenities
Very welcoming reception.We were upgraded to a room with a sea view as they weren't busy. Due to covid 19 the restaurant wasn't open. Nice pool with lifeguard and bar. Easy access to town center and beaches. Plenty of covid 19 security measures were in place and hand sanitizers.

The Grand Hotel de Londres is a beautiful, very old building that is poorly managed and underutilized. The staff behave as though you are bothering them by being there. The wait staff is badly trained and annoying. The man at the pool-bar actually shouted angrily at us when we got into the pool at the wrong time. The maids walk into your room with little warning.

We regret not having met all your needs. We hope to improve in the near future. However, if we can argue, the swimming pool times are well indicated, so it is normal that we resent when a rule is not respected, just as many of your requests both for catering and as hotel services were almost like a private vacation home and not from a 4-star hotel.

Service good. Room airy well cleaned and lovely view of sea and beach from balcony. However four days of no hot water due to a problem with gas mains. Completely understand out of hotels control but no compensation offered and have had to send an email request - now waiting to see if they respond. Hope that as a four star hotel they will as not washing for four days was not good!! Expedia have been super though.

We understand the discomfort caused by the lack of hot water, but as already explained the failure did not depend on our systems, but on a rupture of the city's gas pipe, in fact all the hotels and houses in the area had the same problem . Since it was a cause of force majeure, we too suffered not a few damages, no reimbursement is foreseen. In any case, a cocktail was offered by the hotel during your stay.

Basic affordable accommodation in the center of town; free wifi, parking(limited spaces) and breakfast. The hotel was once a palace I'm sure but was last renovated in the 70's and it shows. The property has nice views and is easy to access on the main street in and out of Sanremo. The pool area has an additional charge.

Hotel is indeed run down but still classic. Don't think you're going to find a Hilton over there in Sanremo, the whole city is run down. Free parking was a sell for us, old property, the bathrooms have been upgraded though. Large rooms, beds are not that comfy. Breakfast is a disaster as compared to other European hotels. Don't ask for any coffee ugh, horrible. I'd probably avoid staying here again.

This hotel has seen better days!
The hotel appears to be in need of major renovation to maintain its 4-star status. The breakfast buffet selection is extremely limited and you must pay if you would like a second cup of coffee!

The staff at the hotel are very helpful and the hotel is nice but the rooms are pretty basic for a 4 star hotel. The rooms are getting a bit old. I had a nice view on the sea but the bed was unfortunately very hard. In the bathroom the shower was leaking. Overall it's a mixed experience...

Slightly faded
About a 10 minute walk from Sanremo center, this was obviously once a very grand hotel but now a lack of guests makes it feel slightly old and run down. Breakfast was a prime example of this; held in a large ballroom with few guests, a lack of choice and stale croissants. That being said, our room was upgraded and we were given a large room. Unfortunately the air conditioning was broken but we let the hotel know and they did fix it within a day. The pool was also lovely but you do have to pay for the sunbeds.

Thank you for your opinion. We regret not having met all your expectations. As for the pool there is written everywhere, including sites, that the towels and sun loungers are paid, as it is a separate organization. For breakfast, we also provide a la carte breakfast.

A tired hotel living on the grandeur of former years. Charming but faded with 'unusual' shabby chic makeovers to cover up the worn areas. OK at the price in this area.

Old and shabby near the beach
The entrance is grand however it is all down hill from that point. Our room was shabby and grubby looking nothing worked properly, the lights had to be fiddled with to get them to work, the floor was worn out and had bits of it which the wood was lifting which was dangerous. The bed was very uncomfortable . We had a huge problem with water in the bathroom, first day it was impossible to wash properly due to a trickle of water coming out of taps. The second day the water stoped mid hair wash , I had to go to reception to complain and was given the key to another room to finish my hair wash and shower. However this room had no hot water and I had an ice cold shower. The third day there was no cold water and the water was boiling hot, we had to leave for the airport so just gave up trying to shower. Breakfast was very poor , hardly any choice and the croissants were stale and hard, I am a vegetarian so the ham and eggs was not for me, I ended up eating crackers and jam every morning. There was no fresh fruit or local cheese and bread on offer. Everything in this hotel is old and stale from the food to the rooms. I expect a better standard from a 4 star. They have the cheek to expect guests to pay €7 euros each to use a very average swimming pool, that again was very tired and nothing special. This is the first time I have been asked to pay for a hotel pool. ?? There were signs everywhere telling guest if they lose the key it would be €35 euros to replace ? Bed spread

we regret that he was not satisfied with our structure .... maybe his review is a little exaggerated with even images that can be organized .... if it was such a strange nightmare that has remained so much from us. The problem was the pool, for which the towel and sunbeds is charged ...No comment!

Excellent hotel
Wonderful hotel well located, what a proper hotel should be. Excellent evening meal in restaurant followed by a good breakfast the next morning. Excellent friendly staff and service at a reasonable price. Highly recommend it.

Chose the hotel for it’s convenience and walk ability. Was great for that just a little run down and dated in the room but beautiful old building. Service and breakfast were both good.
