“Ordinary, at best”
No wi fi in room, ugly beach, bluff pathway in disrepair, stores didn't open until 10, major renovations taking place (we were not informed ahead of time), and Miro, the fine dining destination, was ordinary, at best. Otherwise, excellent spa and pools, and the guys on the golf carts and at the car valet where polite and attentive.
“Awesome”

“Best hotel in Santa Barbara ca”
Nice hotel..friendly staff..food are good too..
“Can't wait to return - spa is wonderful and grounds”
Spa is wonderful along w/ rooms and grounds. It is currently under renovation, but no inconvenience. Grounds are beautiful and rooms. Parking is pricey and 20 min. from town. Would surely go back.
“I would have given Bacara six stars if I could have...”
Stunning grounds, world class service, and a magnificent room. Truly an experience you will not forget. Bacara is about a 10 minute drive N of Santa Barbara. We found the dining better in SB, but overall this is truly a world class resort.
“Yin & Yang”
The hotel is in my opinion a 4 star property. It has 3 pools, 3 resturants, spa, gym, steam-room and adjacent to the ocean with pretty views of sea and grounds. The negative is that there is construction going on and there is some construction noise heard at the pool and sourrounding buildings (none on Sunday). Also the location of the property along this part of the California coast is sprinkled with off-shore oil rigs. There are occasional tar balls on the beach and a slight odor of petroleum from the on-shore breeze. Also at this time of year the fog rolls in and out of the property. There were hardly any guests here and we had 3 large pools, saunas, steam rooms etc., all to ourselves. I don't really see how they can afford to maintain this hotel with so few guests. They have an abundance of staff and groundskeepers. I would go back, but not on the weekends when they raise the price by hundreds of dollars. With the Expedia resort-credit that can be used anywhere on the property, plus a free cabana, and free fireplace up-grade, it was a smoking deal. They didn't even charge me for wi/fi, I believe they charge for parking, however for some reason they did not put it on my bill. Also there is no "resort fee". This will probably all change once the remodeling is done...
“Best In Santa Barbara”
Hotel Upgraded to a room with a fireplace on arrival for no particular reason. When we entered we also found the room had an ocean view to our surprise. Had dinner at the bistro. The chef did a custom seafood pasta for my wife. The service could not be any better. The room is large and comfortable. Second time we have stayed and will be back.
