A Hotel In Need Of Attention

Posted Sep 8, 2014
Pros: Close to our destination
Cons: Read above
Location: Close to Solvang and Santa Ynez Wineries. The Hitching Post 2 restaurant is not to be missed.
We were disappointed in the hotel in general. It started at check-in with a "manager" that had a very hard time reading his own hotels conformation. After a lot of snorting and grunting (literally), and taking glasses off to try and read, we finally got checked in. What we saw next were grounds that needed attention. Grass around the pool area, is essentially a combination of grass and dirt. Dirt being paths that have been worn into the grass instead of providing either cement or at least stepping stones. The bath tub in our room looked dirty, but was actually worn and stained to the point of looking dirty. This hotel was not on parr with other Days Inn facilities that we have stayed in before, and I doubt that Days Inn corporate has seen this facility lately, but they should. The entire facility looks somewhat run down and in need of freshening. Will probably not stay at another Days Inn unless I've seen the hotel in advance or stayed there before. Also, my wife left with numerous bug bites. They did not appear to be fleas or bed bugs, but rather spider bites.

On my last day of vacation

Posted Sep 3, 2014
Pros: The beds and pillows were comfortable
Cons: The over all looks of the hotel
Location: Solvang, Chumash Casino and wine tasting
I stayed at this hotel for 2 days. On the first night there was a party outside my room, upstairs banging and slamming of doors Second day at 9:30am in the morning the electricity went off, no lights, no TV and then no water for showering. Check out is at 12pm. I left at 10:00am. Though this may have been a once in a lifetime thing it didn't just happen to me but to most everyone who was staying at the hotel. Not good advertisement.

The motel was just okey. It needs a lot of improvements. They did not clean the hotel that well. They had ants also.

Hotel was disappointing. I quit smoking several years ago so it was easy to know that our "no smoking room". had definitely been smoked in. The ceiling had several water marks as well as patched areas that had not been painted. The refrigerator which was in the closet was very unstable. The cord for it went through a hole in the back of the closet which was also the back wall in the kitchen. The cord went across the kitchen floor to an outlet in the back of the kitchen. The morning that we left my wife was using the hotel furnished hair dryer which tripped the ground fault interceptor which could not be reset. Luckily the very nice lady in the front office found a outlet in the banquet room so my wife could finish her hair. Our room was above the bar and it was very noisy when we were trying to sleep.Great people!, lousy hotel!

Like location but

Hotel in need of TLC! Pool dirty...sides need scrubbing and chemicals added. For the amount of $ spent the hotel could use the money to paint and repair. Won't book again.!

Prices in a tourist setting on a holiday weekend are normally in this area. At time the reservations are made all prices are listed before the guest makes their decision on final reservatiosn.

Very comfortable beds and very affordable

Posted Aug 28, 2014
Pros: Beds very comfortable and quiet.
Cons: Up date appearance of the lobby and the walk ways into the rooms.
Location: Chumash Casino, Solvang
The hotel looked dated and the exterior to my room was worn and didn't look inviting. It worried me a bit, but the room was clean, the bed and pillows were extremely comfortable, and I had a wonderful nights sleep. The price at $60.00 was the cheapest around.

Ideal hotel whilst touring

Posted Aug 28, 2014
Pros: Location, location, location
Cons: Maybe some updating but then again we paid less than $100 inc. Tax so we were happy.
Location: It's on a straight road with hotels and restaurants either side and very close to a small group of shops including CVS.
This hotel is ideally located for the highway and close to loads is restaurants. We only met one member of hotel staff when we checked in, and she was more than helpful and very pleasant. The room was surprisingly spacious and clean throughout with large doors onto the lawn. There is plenty of parking, we managed to park directly outside out door. This hotel won't set the world on fire but for the price and location we would stay again if passing.
