“Nice Hotel”
Very good Hotel and friendly staff.
“Pretty but loud”
The staff are extremely friendly. The exterior of the hotel is beautiful. We had a ground floor room and we could hear the person above us walking around. Also, we could hear people outside our room. Pros: Right across from the beach on Cabrillo, friendly staff, beautiful exterior of hotel, convenient location, nice complimentary continental breakfast Cons: Rooms are not sound proofed, older hotel with cute updates, $10 per night parking fee
“Love the hotel; would have been nice to have grown ups at the desk”
Love the location of the hotel! Beautiful grounds! However, when we arrived we were "upgraded" to a "larger room" which was located on the ground level next to the breakfast bistro and facing the Sambo's parking lot next door. This meant noise as early as 6:45 every morning..... Then, despite the fact that we were required to pay extra for parking, somehow vandals slipped by the hotel security to damage the license plates of no fewer than12 cars our first night. No offer to bend back the license plates, let alone refund the parking charge that night, and defintely no apologies from the youngsters at the front desk. A bit disappointing on those two issues but otherwise, a nice stay. Will probably come back, but will seek refund on the parking first.....
“Great location”
This place is right across the street from the water and sterns warf. So if that is where you are headed its a great location. The staff is very helpfull and friendly and they have nice little free breakfast as well. Free wifi is another plus. The rooms are a little run down though. There was rust on some of the fixtures and the vanity morrow was falling off the wall. The room heaters are really old and make a ton of noise and the walls are pretty thin. We had some people staying above that kept us up till 4am even after multiple complaints; but that's not really the hotels fault and they did call the cops for us. There is only one jacuzzi and it's on the far side of the grounds from where we were staying but overall it was well kept. I would recommend staying on the second floor if you have the option though.
“Good, but depends in room”
Great location on the beach. I booked the cheapest single room online. Was tiny and in a small hallway. Other rooms looked great. Loud, no view but everybody could look inside. Breakfast ok, fried eggs cost 5$ extra.
“Well located, but be aware of parking charge.”
This hotel is well located; right across the road from the beach. The rates are reasonable and the staff is courteous. We were not alerted about the $10 parking fee , and when we complained, it was removed from our bill.
“Hotel Oceana is Great in a Pinch”
I booked this room last minute. I was doing a 1/2 marathon and decided it would be great to wake up in the town I was doing it in! This was probably the last room available in Santa Barbara. No joke! The room was clean and the ocean view was lovely. Not a lot of frills but a comfy bed (in spite of the polyester sheets) and a nice flat screen. I was upgraded when I got there. Not sure why or how, but didn't ask. One really cool thing was, in the morning when I went to the lobby for complimentary fruit and coffee, there were 3 sailors asleep on the lobby couches. The clerk told me that they came in last night with no place to stay. Santa Barbara was sold out, so the Hotel Oceana let them crash on the comfy couches instead of sleeping in the train station. A patriotic hotel with a heart. You can't beat that!
“Perfect location”
Great location. Older rooms but charming.
“Disappointed”
While the location of the hotel is great, right across the street from the beach, my room was a disappointment. Basically the size of a closet...and it didn't have a closet... ground floor, noisey, musky odor. Good thing I didn't have my wife with me. If I went back I'd make sure I saw my room before I agreed to stay.
“Breezy ocean escape!”
We loved this affordable hotel that was basically right on the beach. The location of this place can't be beat. A short walk to State street and to Stearns Wharf. Highly reccommend.
