SIDEWAYS TRIP

Posted Sep 29, 2014
We had a nice time in Solvang. Took a bus wine tour and the hotel was on the pick-up list. The staff was very helpful and the room was nice, but we did have trouble with the key to the room..

Pros: The staff were very helpful, prompt and professional. The garden view rooms (6) enjoy a private enclosed deck with a fountain/stream.
I spent one night in a garden room mid-week on business. The hotel was quiet and charming, and in the heart of Solvang, a quaint Danish village.

Beautiful vintage hotel in picturesque Solvang

Posted Sep 14, 2014
Our stay was very good, Solvang itself is so cute and a very pleasant find on a 3 week trip where all other areas and hotels are big corporate chains or major cities. Good choice for breakfasts. Plenty of choice of local wineries to visit, but otherwise not much else around in local proximity. Would stay here again in a heart beat if passing through and will recommend to others!

Nice, clean hotel. Loved the old time charm.

Posted Sep 11, 2014
Pros: Loved the way it was decorated.
Cons: Maybe a swimming pool.
Location: Right in downtown Solvang. Walk to all the different shops
Only stayed one night but it was very pleasant. The room was comfortable. There was a great old world charm to the place.

Quaint hotel

Posted Sep 10, 2014
We had a pleasant experience. It's not the most elaborate up-to-date hotel but that's part of its charm. We would definitely return to this hotel. I just wish we knew that the restaurant was closed for renovations prior to booking.

Dated but in a nice way

Posted Aug 23, 2014
Pros: The quiet.
Cons: Oh maybe the showers.
Location: The middle of town near a fine pancake restaurant and an excellent bookstore. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL INDEPENDENT BOOKSTORE!
This is a quiet old fashioned place. Hip is not a word I would use to describe it yet it was a pleasant place in the middle of the most over the top tourist town you can find (Solvang, Ca). A fine dinner restaurant in the hotel and the free continental breakfast is good also. An EXCELLENT bookstore, The Book Loft, is only 2 blocks away. Don't miss that if you are a reader. All in all, a bit retro in the non-hip way but a nice exception to the corporate chains that are everywhere.
