Pros: The staff, in particular, Miriam were exceptionally nice and helpful.
The entire experience was great. You are greeted and then shown around the hotel. You get treated to wine and cheese. They then turn your bed and leave yummy cookies. You then get breakfast to order in the morning.

Celebration

Pros: The hot breakfast and appetizer wine in the afternoon. The room & bed. The common rooms with fireplace. The restaurant.
Cons: A better closet.
Location: Near Solvang and Santa Ynez area. Wine tasting, hiking, shopping
We spent 2 nights at the Ballard Inn and it was a lovely stay. From our check-in, Christina helped us, to Katherine who provided helpful information and maps, everyone at this Inn is friendly, personable, and eager to help. The inn provides a daily hot breakfast as well as a cold food bar (cereal, fruit, juice). The breakfast was good (I had oatmeal, my husband had sausage and eggs). In the afternoon (from4:30-5:30) they provide wine and an array of appetizers (hot and cold). A really nice spread. The room is spacious and comfortable (we had a king size bed). A couple of things you should know about this Inn. Number 1 there isn't a t.v. in your room (there is one in the common room). The closet in your room is an armoire (very narrow) and there are hooks on a rod where you can place your clothes. If you have a lot of clothes to hang this may not work for you but that's all they have. Also they have a small flat ironing board that you would place on a table or floor to iron your clothes (like my single days). If those little quirks don't bother you this place is for you.

One of the best meals ever at the Restaurant! Great decor with fireplace mantel covered with autographed magnum wine bottles! Lovely service and the rooms, large and nicely decorated.

Oasis -- Superior among the Ordinary

Superior staff, food, happy hour. Realizing that Ballard Inn is a bed & breakfast more than a hotel, per se; I , much to my embarrasment, missed a telephone and television in the room -- however the quiet atmosphere that resulted from the lack of these conveniences made it worth it
