Winery Tour Trip

Posted Apr 15, 2015
Pros: Location, charm, room and free breakfast
Cons: Bathroom could use a makeover
Location: Lots of cute shops and wineries
We arrived in Solvang at night. The town was closed including most restaurants. The hotel doesn't have food but it has a nice area around the fire place where you can drink wine and have cheese. We walked to a very nice Italian restaurant where they serve delicious brick oven pizza. Our room was really nice, comfortable, clean, quite and with a fire place. Breakfast was simple, but good and included! The hotel was very charming and I would definitely recommend it.

Poor customer service

Posted Apr 11, 2015
Pros: The exterior was charming
Cons: The customer service!
I was awake all night because the smoke alarm in the hall had a dead battery. I went to the front desk and expected reimbursement for that night's stay and they were unaccommodating. My son asked for additional bath towels and the manager was rude to him. It was not a cheap stay, and for the money spent, the customer service was poor and the rooms were small. In addition, the parking was limited to about 10 spaces. There are many other places to stay in Solvang, and the next time we visit, we will stay elsewhere.

Friendly, clean hotel right down town Solvang

Posted Apr 7, 2015
Pros: Quiet, lovely hotel manager
Cons: Seating in the room other than a desk like chair.
Location: Right downtown Solvang in walking distance to anything there is to see in town. Quite a bit of quaint, little shops . Wineries nearby, but a drive
The Wine Valley Inn was one of our favorite places in a two week visit to SoCal. The Inn was charming, clean and a nice break from a chain hotel. The room was nice and spacious, although had no comfortable chair or couch to sit on (there was a desk like chair). I was reading while my wife was showering and had to sit on the bed for a comfortable spot. The room was quiet but very much lacked natural lighting due to small windows. The breakfast was complimentary (although we weren't aware of this for some reason); breakfast was fine but a typical complimentary breakfast. The manager raved about the strawberries at the farmers market so I thought there might be some great fruit at breakfast but there wasn't. I guess that's why I was a bit disappointed with breakfast. There was nice outdoor seating area with a fireplace lit in the evening but was overtaken by a group so it wasn't an inviting place for a couple who wants quiet. The town shuts down early so there's nothing to do after 8PM except being the last ones in a restaurant. With that being said, it felt like a very safe area for sure. Our second day there we ventured out to some wineries and loved the countryside. The farmers market was great but when you're traveling, there's no place to really store fresh fruits and vegetables. We were on a 30 year wedding anniversary trip but if we had small kids with us, they'd be bored stiff!

Ok stay

Stayed in a tower room. Room was small but cozy. The blinds on the windows allowed people outside to see in. A dog in a nearby room barked all night, but room itself was nice. An ok stay, but a bit overpriced.

Good location on one end of the little town. Right across from the Solvang Brewery! I'm more of a beer guy so this was a plus. Great little koi pond and quiet area. Pet friendly. Room has fridge but no microwave (the only negative)

Very disappointed

Posted Mar 17, 2015
Pros: The location was great. The staff was very friendly and breakfast was good.
Cons: General maintenance. The hotel rooms needed to cleaned beyond maid service.
Location: Excellent location for exploring Solvang. Everything was within walking distance.
The toilet overflowed, the shower temperature went from warm to cold and room had a bad smell.

The Inn was conveniently located in walking distance to all the local shops. Staff was very friendly and knowledgable of the area and things to see.
