Grand Hotel Mediterraneo is a winner. It is along the river and within walking distance of the main Florence site and a couple of blocks away from a bus line. The staff were helped us get familiar with the layout of the area and provided great recommendations for local restaurants. The breakfast was one of the best I've had in a 'breakfast-included hotel.
Clean, safe, comfortable.

The location of The Balestri is amazing, only a minute or so from The Uffizi and on the banks of the river Arno. From the moment we arrived at the hotel the staff were so welcoming. The ladies that looked after us at breakfast are fantastic - very cheery and friendly no matter how busy it got at times. Our room was always beautifully clean when we returned after sightseeing and we had a fantastic corner room overlooking the Arno (room 304).

The staff members were amazing. Very helpful and friendly! They offered fantastic recommendations for dining and delicious gelato afterwards. The breakfast was amazing and you had the choice of eating indoors or on their terrace which has a great view of the Duomo. The hotel was a bit hard to find (top floor of the building). The room was very clean but the bed was a bit hard for my taste. The A/C was fabulous after a long day of sightseeing and the view was very relaxing. Only surprise was finding out the bathroom was also the shower stall but that could be common in a small European hotel.

This hotel is within walking distance to everything. The breakfast was great and the staff was very helpful. The front desk staff can communicate in English well and they are polite and helpful. If I were to return to Florence I would definitely stay in this hotel again.

Hotel Jane. Florence.
My partner and I recently stayed at this lovely hotel 20 minutes walk from Florence City Centre. What a find it was. The staff were courteous and helpful. We asked for a dinner recommendation at the front desk on the Saturday evening and in the ten minutes it took us to walk there, the staff at the restaurant knew we were on our way courtesy of a phone call from the duty receptionist at the hotel. The cleanliness and maintenance of the room exceptional. Breakfast although simple was no less enjoyable. The décor including lot's of black and white photographs depicting the 60's and an original Enfield Motorcycle in the bar area adds a quirkiness to the experience of staying there. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a quieter area in Florence while still being close enough to enjoy all of what the city centre has to offer. A fantastic time overall.

The front desk staff went out of their way to help me solve issues with getting money from an ATM (required a collect call to the States) and with getting a new SIM card for my cell phone (and showing me how it worked afterwards). They were superb.

A large piazza greets visitors arriving at Santa Croce, the principle Franciscan church in Florence. This large complex dates back to the 13th century, and is the burial place for many notable Italians like Michelangelo, Galileo, and Machiavelli. The halls of this church are decorated with frescoes by Giotto.
