We will never stay anywhere else. With two students at the university, this hotel is perfect for visiting them. It is located at the base of the hill to go up to campus, is walking distance to the market, restaurants, etc. It has a wonderful patio for happy hours right at the hotel. The rooms are immaculately clean, well appointed, and comfortable. The staff is welcoming and helpful. All in all, the best place to stay in Santa Cruz!

When I booked the room it didn't say anything about being 21 and older to check in, thankfully the nice man let us stay after the confusion but their website should say ONLY 21 to check in. But other than that it was an amazing hotel with a very nice room so close to the boardwalk and even closer to the beach.

Overall this is a quaint little place to stay in Santa Cruz. It is clean compared to most motels these days. The grounds are pretty. The staff was decent, some were excellent and others fair. The room was just fine for our needs. I would definitely stay there again. Prices in Santa Cruz can be outrageous but I felt what I paid per night 170.00 plus tax, was a good deal compared to other comparable places in town. It would be nice of they had better food access in the later evenings, but really I can't complain about anything too much.

I HAVE BEEN COMING TO THE CHAMINADE for at least 20 years to visit my family in Santa Cruz
I have made the same suggestions for all my years
The rooms are too small
There is NO place to put your personal cosmetic and cleaning items anywhere in the bathroom
NO counter space
It is still straight out of the 1970's-----
There is STILL NO BAR---for a fairly expensive hotel, they give you few amenities
The restaurant is expensive……..
The place is beautiful and charming but the Hotel itself needs improving

Chill, locally owned hotel that provides basic comfort that is conveniently located between boardwalk and downtown...closer to Boardwalk side. I go to SC a lot and would recommend this place to families with kids who want to be close to the beach, pier and Boardwalk.

The mighty Pacific serves as center stage and backdrop for all things leisure in Santa Cruz. Its boardwalk offers rollercoaster thrills with bay views. Down Beach Street, the city wharf is a prime fishing and whale-watching spot. Nearby, surfers near and far head to Steamer Lane to catch monster waves. Downtown’s charming Pacific Avenue plays hosts to land lovers with its local shops and cafes.
