We will never stay anywhere else. With two students at the university, this hotel is perfect for visiting them. It is located at the base of the hill to go up to campus, is walking distance to the market, restaurants, etc. It has a wonderful patio for happy hours right at the hotel. The rooms are immaculately clean, well appointed, and comfortable. The staff is welcoming and helpful. All in all, the best place to stay in Santa Cruz!

The hotel itself was nice and newly updated. The design and architecture is pretty cool and they've done a good job at turning what appears to be an old motel into a newly update place. The only real complain that I have was that the room was super cramped and did not offer much privacy. The bedroom was about the size and shape of an old style dorm room (straight up rectangle) with the bathroom being directly adjacent to the bed. The bedroom/bed and the bathroom was separated by a barn-style sliding door... which did not actually close just blocked the view from the bed into the bathroom. (This is where the designer chose form over function for you fellow engineers out there) There were wide gaps on all side of the door, so whatever was happening in the bathroom translated perfectly into the bedroom. You get the picture. That being said, the staff was friendly and helpful and allowed us to check out an hour later than normal. Maybe it was just the style of room we purchased, but given that there was a stead stream of people walking from the rooms into the lobby to use the bathrooms there, I have a feeling all of the rooms were similar to ours.

When I booked the room it didn't say anything about being 21 and older to check in, thankfully the nice man let us stay after the confusion but their website should say ONLY 21 to check in. But other than that it was an amazing hotel with a very nice room so close to the boardwalk and even closer to the beach.

Good customer service, good service for parking and picking my vehicle. Coffee maker machine and refrigerator are provided inside the room. Good view with the balcony inside the room. Daily parking charge is very expensive - $24.00. $10 or $12 is more reasonable.

Overall this is a quaint little place to stay in Santa Cruz. It is clean compared to most motels these days. The grounds are pretty. The staff was decent, some were excellent and others fair. The room was just fine for our needs. I would definitely stay there again. Prices in Santa Cruz can be outrageous but I felt what I paid per night 170.00 plus tax, was a good deal compared to other comparable places in town. It would be nice of they had better food access in the later evenings, but really I can't complain about anything too much.

This is possibly the most charming hotel in Santa Cruz. Built around a babbling brook, each room is surrounded by the greenery of nature, the scent and color of flowers and the mummer and gurgling of brook. An attentive and friendly staff make you feel wanted and comfortable. The breakfast serving is wonderful, with a different and delicious meal each morning. If you're tired of the usual hotel experience, this might be a nice change for you.
