Great Location, Not-great Hotel

Posted May 30, 2014
Pros: Location and large room size.
Cons: New larger towels, upgrade bathrooms, new mattresses, new carpet.
Location: Restaurant 315 is fabulous. I love the bar and restaurant at Tate Luce 221. The wonderful Santa Fe playhouse is in the next block.
This hotel is conveniently located for walking about Santa Fe but it is shoddy. The towels must be 10 years old, the carpet has burn holes in it, and oh, and they charge extra for parking. I only stay here when other nicer affordable hotels are unavailable.

came back after a break from staying there.

Pros: location is great
Cons: update and a deep cleaning.
Location: Its Santa Fe, tons to do.
Used to stay at Garretts years ago, the last time was in the late fall, we clearly had no hot water and after calling the front desk we were informed that you need to let the water run for about 20 minutes and be patient. WHAT? In a high country desert country that seemed irresponsible, especially after reading the placard about scarcity of water in Santa Fe. Years later we decided to give it a another try as you can't beat the location. Fools. those were the noisiest beds in history and very worn out. But I have to ask... how does one get really disgusting stains on the ironing board cover???? really.

Acceptable Accommodations

Posted May 10, 2014
Pros: Proximity to Santa Fe points of interest
Cons: See above
Location: Canyon Road close by
Only window available in bathroom. Air conditioner defening. Bed comfortable. Hotel staff helpful. New on-site restaurant very good. Reservations made through Expedia misrepresented availabilty of type of room and rates available. Suggest making reservations directly with hotel.

Garretts-Great Location

Posted May 8, 2014
Pros: Location excellent. Inexpensive parking fee compared to other lodgings in the Plaza area.
Cons: Bath linens too thin. Need to vacuum around baseboards.
Location: Shopping, restaurants and museums all near Plaza.
We obtained excellent rates from Expedia for a 3 night stay at this motel--all at short notice and considered ourselves fortunate to get it with super convenience of walking short distance and great parking price.
