Very convenient location, but...Posted Oct 1, 2013
Location: The museums of Santa Fe are excellent. There are many very good restaurants within walking distance. Access by free shuttle bus to sites is great!
The St. Francis is in an excellent location for sightseeing in Santa Fe. Unfortunately, the rooms are very, very small and it was difficult for us to open our suitcases and access our clothes. Also, there was very little room around the bathroom sink to set even our toothbrushes, let alone any other toiletry items. The staff was friendly and helpful and the lobby and outside gathering areas were excellent. We also appreciated the free tour of the city offered by the hotel group to which St. Francis belongs and the fact that they contribute financially to the well being of the city.

Perfect location!Posted Sep 30, 2013
Our room had a wonderful view- we were able to watch sunset each night. Staff was excellent, kind friendly and extremely helpful. Our room was small but nice. We would have liked a chair in the room for sitting down for shoes etc. We will definitely return . The location is perfect as everything is within easy walking distance! Thank you

Noise! Noise! Noise!Posted Sep 30, 2013
Pros: Great looking older hotel very close to the plaza and Canyon Rd.
Cons: When booking a wedding and a reception consider you other paying guest's needs.
Well...its a noisy older hotel to begin with but we had the misfortune of staying at the St Francis while they had a wedding scheduled...in the lobby....right below our room. We really didn't get much sleep at all that night. We definitely questioned the business strategy of closing down the hotel lobby to all hotel guests for an afternoon except the wedding party & then allowing them to party all night long in the lobby and in the halls.

What's not to like!!Posted Sep 27, 2013
Pros: The friendly and helpful staff; quality of the bar drinks and food at the restaurant.
Cons: Big deal,...a light bulb was out.
Location: Near to all the desirable Santa Fe museums, restaurants and shops. Town square is a couple of blocks away.
Large, inviting lobby; great bar and restaurant and ridiculously convenient location for walking around Santa Fe. The St. Francis just added to our great Santa Fe weekend. Wouldn't consider staying anywhere else.

Was very close to the Square. Only problem, room very small, but the convience of being so close to the square made up for the small room.

Close Quarters, but very nicePosted Sep 17, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hospitality of the St. Francis was wonderful - from the front desk to the bartenders to the waiters. We had a wonderful time during our stay. We were in town for a wedding and it mad a perfect destination location. Only downside was the size of the room and the hotel room's minimalistic environment. Due to bathroom and vanity/mirror size and location, it made it difficult for two ladies to get ready at the same time.

The St Francis is ideally located just a block off the Plaza. It's perfect for a romantic getaway in a relaxing little town. The hotel itself is beautiful and charming, and the staff was very kind, helpful and attentive. The only downside- the rooms are tiny and the bed was not comfortable, which took away from the romance just a bit. Also, there is room service but only if they aren't too busy, and the restaurant is a separate entity, so you can't charge it to your room. Not a big deal, but I've never encountered this before. Overall I would recommend The St James for those looking for a few days of shopping and dining in Santa Fe. Maybe it was just our bed that was squeaky and saggy!

Great location, bad breakfast experiencePosted Sep 6, 2013
Cons: Breakfast service
The waiter told us that to have a breakfast on the patio we needed a reservation! Not all tables on the patio were taken for the whole time we were having breakfast... He was very unpleasant, on the border of being rude.

Although the room was very small, the hotel and the service were at the top. The desk was very accommodating. Easy 2 block walk to the square and shops.

Great bed and location, lousy room amenitiesPosted Aug 27, 2013
Pros: The bed, the restaurant, the lobby and the staff.
Cons: Air conditioning, mirror, toiletry shelves, towels at normal human height shelf, less danger in step to bath.
Location: Great location for cathedral, shops, Pasquale's, Verve Gallery, the Square, Georgia O'Keeffe gallery, etc. etc.
We enjoyed the comfort of the bed, very big and just right although no visitors require 10 pillows. The air conditioning really didn't work; hard to believe in Santa Fe weather, eh? No full length mirror No place to put toiletries The towel shelf meant for 6 1/2 footers; I'm 5 ft. 4 and needed help to reach a towel A precipitous step down from bath to bedroom; could lead to legal suits very easily Nice furniture and colours but nobody thought this room through. Also, we were told our room had a specially nice view; turns out to be an alleyway between two wings of the building. I know because we needed to keep the windows open all night to get a bit of air
