“Very satisfied”

I love the old '50s motels but the ones still existing have often been re-done cheaply. The King's Rest is not one of those. It is lovingly maintained both inside and out. It was nearly full in early October. It was quiet except for occasional traffic sounds from Cerrillos Road. I was attending a trade show n the new Railyard area and was only 5 minutes away a the Kings Rest. A truly pleasant overnight stay.

“A real route 66 find”

New bed, carpet, refrigerator and coffee maker. Original doors, huge closet and a carport between rooms. Very quiet. The only problem was the door lock (an old fashioned latch)had a tumbler get stuck and we had to wait a few minutes for a master key. No phone, but doesn't everyone have a cell? Within walking distance of a great cafe.

“Good value”

Good value, but a tad out of the way. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat, however, because it was so restful and quiet.

“Lovely people”

We found this motel to be better than expected. Also, I had a fall on a snowy pavement one evening, and the staff couldn't have done more to be helpful and kind.

“Clean but a little coooold...”

Overall good experience. The room was clean and comfortable. My only complaint was with the heater. I turned the thermostat all the way up and the heater still couldn't keep the room much above 60 degrees.

“Basic but comfortable”

No surprises here. Quite, comfortable and clean. A/C did great job of keeping the room cool. Easy check-in with polite staff.

“Good Value and Location”

If you just need a bed and a location fairly convenient to the heart of Santa Fe this seems like a great value. Definitely not fancy but clean. I would use it again.

“Cheap for Santa Fe but pretty outdated.”

Motel is old and in need of renovation. Room was clean but window a/c was very old and noisy. Located on a very busy street in a commercial neighborhood. If you just want a room for a night or two its okay for the price.

“Price is right, but had some concerns”

I knew that this wasn't going to be a fancy place, and basically, the room was fine. Our concerns were mainly that between the busy road, rubbish truck arriving at 4:00 AM and the noisy AC, it was hard to sleep at night. There was also an underlying smell in the room (mold maybe?) that took a couple days to air out. The location is good, and the price is right, but I wouldn't recommend this place for light sleepers or those with any environmental sensitivities.

“What a disappointment”

Based on reviews I'd read, I expected a cheap, but nice hotel with an adjacent carport. It was cheap, but one of the tiniest, dingiest rooms I've stayed in. Only one chair, uncomfortable headboard, bedsheets on the windows, dimly lit, cramped bathroom with a step that I kept tripping on. The room actually was clean, but it felt dirty. The bed was OK. At night, the thin sheets on the windows allowed the outside light in. Totally charmless with not even a poster or print on the walls. No amenities at all...not even a box of tissue. No literature or hotel info on the chairless desk. Even at the cheap price, I expected more for a hotel in Santa Fe. I'll pay more next time somewhere else.
