amazing experience.Posted Dec 10, 2013
My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights and had a perfect time. The setting is incredible with beautifully kept gardens. The breakfast is the best you'll find for included breakfasts. The restaurant has delicious italian style food, better pasta than what we had in Italy! the pool is perfect, the room was nice and clean and classic. the bed was our only complaint, as it was not very comfortable. The hosts were welcoming and not overbearing, but happy to help with anything you need.If you are worried about the location of this hotel, DON'T BE! It is in what I would say is the best area of Santa Teresa and next to the best beach. great restaurants are walking distance as well as supermarkets. This is a great hotel if you want to really relax in a little tropical resort, and still have the option to get out and explore!

Laid back atmospherePosted Dec 2, 2013
Absolutely amazing atmosphere with european neatness. The small hotel is hosted by a courteous Italian couple who is always willing for a nice chat or advise. Cleaner than most other places and with that special sense of comfort and convenience without abundant luxury.

Zen hotel with nice poolPosted Sep 4, 2013 on Hotels.com
Great hotel with nice pool. Location to the beach is fab. The free breaksast is tasty. It's a shame the hotel doesn't serve dinner. We stayed at the hotel in low season which meant most nearby restaurants were closed. It's fine if you have a car but not so great if you don't!!

Wonderful stayPosted Aug 26, 2013 on Hotels.com
We had a great stay at otro lado! The lodge grounds and the rooms are absolutely gorgeous! The hotel is located close to lots of restaurants and is literally a 5 minute walk to the beach. Breakfast was minimal but satisfactory. The room was very clean and beautifully decorated. Would love to stay here again!

Pros: It was very clean, the rooms were airy and the hammocks dotted around were very relaxing.
Cons: I'm not a big TV fan, particularly when you're on holiday, however there are times when you want to watch a film or travelling alone. No TVs
Location: Surfing mad! There are much better places in CR for wildlife. Sleepy after dark and about 2k in stretch of restaurants spread out.
The setting was this hotel is lovely-surrounded by lovely gardens. Santa Teresa is great if you're a surfer, however, having lived in Costa Rica, I think other areas have much more to offer. This is the first place I've seen in CR with open pipes with seeming sewage on the streets! I think this hotel would be great for surfing couples, looking to get away from it all for a few days. By that I mean, surf all day, have an early meal and read a book in the evening. A little isolated for single travellers and a bit difficult to keep the kids entertained.

Affordable Paradise in Santa TeresaPosted Aug 17, 2013 on Hotels.com
We checked in late, and Nico was there and expecting us when we arrived. Parking is private and secure - they have a night watchmen as well just in case. The hotel is as others have described, an "oasis" in paradise! The room decor was simple, modern and tasteful. I love that they are so eco-conscious and encourage their guests to live in the same way. The maid was crazy quick and did an excellent job on our room every morning. The complimentary breakfast selection was limited, but delicious. Location was central and walking distance to many great restaurants nearby. Pool was an excellent respite from the humidity! Staff was friendly and very helpful! Would definitely stay here again.

So-so.Posted Aug 14, 2013 on Hotels.com
The reviews I saw made me think this place would be above average. It turned out to be much less impressive than expected. Not sure why the reviews were so over the top. The good things: The grounds are definitely visually pleasing and maintained well. The yoga area as well as the breakfast area are both as pictured. A/C worked well and the outdoor hammocks were nice to relax in. The not so good things: The room smelled of mildew and stinky toilet, and the linens smelled like they were sprayed with some sort of deodorizer. Beds not comfy at all. Light from the hallway shined into our room window all night. The hotel owners were decent, but nothing over the top nice or especially accommodating like I had read. They hardly acknowledge their guests. Pool had warm water.. not so refreshing on hot days. Outdoor seating areas have cushions that are old and faded. Basically, If you want a low-budget, decent spot with complimentary breakfast and good a/c.. stay here. If you are effected by the room's smell and feel.. spend a little more money and stay somewhere nicer and closer to the south/ main part of town near the banks, and more shops, restaurants, and yoga retreats. Santa Theresa is great if you keep yourself busy with activities.. surfing, paddle boarding, beach. Just a headsup, Santa Theresa is a dusty dirty road with a few restaurants and markets alongside the way.. and its spread out, so it takes awhile to walk anywhere from this hotel.

Really cool character and laid back vibe. Grounds and rooms are beautiful and staff is friendly and helpful. It's close to the best beach in the area and yet still feels private and tucked from the busy road.
