"Attractive inn in charming neighborhood"
We especially liked the desk clerk Erica. She was very friendly and helpful. The common room was a comfortable hangout.

"A Wonderful Place to Stay"
Villa Laurinda is like an oasis in the busy city of Rio. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and the others guests were also polite. The breakfast was filling and generous, and we received good advice on what to do with our time in Rio. Santa Theresa is an up and coming district of the city, with a parade of art shops, cafes and bars to explore. It really is one if the hidden treasures of Rio. We stayed as a couple, which was ideal. I am sure they could cater everyone though, so just check in advance of your booking. The room was very tidy and clean. Although there was no safe, the rooms are locked. They have never had any trouble with break-ins, hence no need for a safe, which was fine. The pool is regularly cleaned, and there is an honesty list with the adjacent bar/fridge, which made us feel trusted and valued. If we ever go back to Rio, we would definitely stay again.

"Charming, clean, and wonderful!"
Casa Mango Mango is like a bed and breakfast in a beautiful old world style mansion. I believe there are only five or six rooms, so the atmosphere is cozy and tailored to your stay. This place has pretty much everything you could ask for when traveling: cleanliness (our room was impeccable), comfort (our room and the common areas were so inviting), free wifi, and an excellent staff that helped with all sorts of inquiries. They also had a great menu of tasty treats available at reception (drinks and sandwiches) for when you wanted to order something in. Staying at Case Mango Mango was such a treat because we were able to stay in a more residential area of Rio (not just on the beachthough you could easily take the bus to the beach). In Santa Teresa, we got a fuller view of city living in Rio and we also had excellent access to bars, music clubs, and events in Lapa just a short walk or bus ride away. The staff helped us plan parts of our trip around Rio and helped get a taxi to the airport on a rainy night.

"Wonderful hotel close to all major attractions"
Situated halfway between the beautiful beaches of Rio de Janeiro and the city's bustling nightspots and Centro area, this is a wonderful little hotel to base yourself when in the 'marvelous city'. The hotel's rates are good value for money, English is spoken fluently by reception staff and the breakfast is ample enough to set you up for a busy day of sightseeing. The bohemian districts of Santa Teresa and Lapa are mere minutes away on foot and the hotel is very close to the Metrô Rio which links all major sites (including Ipanema, Copacabana and Botofogo) for a small fare. I cannot recommend this hotel enough!

"Friendly off the main track hotel"
A friendly and cozy quiet posada, in historic and quite typical Santa Teresa. Very quiet as a little off the main street. Location is great if you want to be in Santa Teresa. However, entertainment and restarants in the area are only a handful and tend to be overpriced - Sunday nights around is when you get the most vibrant beat of Sata Teresa, monday nights, very not much happening (your best option then becomes Espirito Santa with a place that looks a little like a whole in the wall, but has very delivate and top quality food. You will also have to deal with taxi drivers that don't like much going up the hill. Apart from that, we definitely loved our hotel and especially the warm welcome from Domonique and Samia. Very reasonably priced. Probably your best option for the area. They privided us with a whole lot of travel tips and information, arranging for even longer trips on our behalf, very, very helpful !

"Lovely stay"
We stayed here for one night over carnaval and were able to walk to and from the sambadrome (and felt safe) The staff were fantastic, so lovely, friendly and welcoming, it was like going to stay with family!! The building itself is quite unusual as it's an old colonial building and you enter via a tunnel and old school elevator. The rooms were clean and tidy and had been decorated well, but obviously as this is an old building, we were able to hear people in the next room very clearly and also people walking about in the room above us. However, the bed was really comfortable and a great shower. We ordered room service, which I wouldn't recommend. We had panninis and they were really dry and resembled the food we had got on the plane. Breakfast wasn't included in the rate and based on the food we had, we didn't think it was worth it. The pool was clean and the garden area was lovely. And the seating areas in the reception were comfortable. I would recommend this place, but maybe not the best for light sleepers

"Good for backpackers, ONLY."
The fact that one of the employees were not welcoming was enough for me not to like this place. It's situated in a not very well known neighborhood which makes cab rides not so easy. The rooms need painting and repairs. It has a very small pool. Far from the beaches. I'll not go back.

"Excellent"
Service was outstanding, owners, manager, everyone was very helpful. The hotel is beautiful, chic and stylish.... A place to relax after visiting Rio. Breakfast was special not only because of the place and the view it has where it was served, but because it was prepared to the detail. I hope to go back soon.
