A beautiful hotel, but....not much more
The front desk was extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel is far from town, so taxis are essential! The hotel doesn't really offer anything special for a 5 star hotel, so we were disappointed.

Fabulous position . A but disappointed that the Thalasotherapy was closed for refurbishment and we hadn’t been informed .

If you are looking for a property on the beach or with convenient access to the beach, do not stay here. The hotel is situated on a small hill, but there is no way to walk directly to the beach without walking out the back and taking a long way all the way around. Also, the room was pretty dated but the bathroom was nice. Not sure about the rooms facing the water - these are more expensive and perhaps in better condition. Regardless, it was not a 5* hotel experience at all. There was no air conditioning one night, which was terrible (and no compensation was provided for this inconvenience). Service was mixed - two of the bartenders were great but one of the front desk staff was not.

Great hotel in Santander
Fantastic hotel. Truly a 5-star. Huge rooms, very attentive staff. Great breakfast. Quiet, as it is not on the main strip, but still very walkable to everywhere.

Historic Hotel in Beautiful Neighborhood
Couldn't ask for a better place to stay in Santander. We didn't realize what a historic and impressive hotel this was until we arrived. Classic place. Beautiful grounds, amazing breakfast, helpful staff. Bring some walking shoes to explore the area. Free parking is key. Taxis are pretty cheap to get around the city if needed. Photo is a view from our room. We will come back!

Excellent Hotel. Arrived mid- morning, room ready! Departing early evening - keep the room until 2pm! Going to the beach - you’ll need some beach towels! This hotel couldn't do enough to make your stay enjoyable. The staff were so friendly. Muy buen, gracias.

We had an incredible stay. The hotel is beautiful, every córner is full of history! The staff was very kind and helpfull. It is a distance walk to all the atractions. I would definetely recommend it!

Great property, amazing service, but the rooms could do with a little upgrading (missing tech gadgets and generally they look and feel old and outdated). Pillows and other items are low quality.

The castle like appearance from the outside is exactly what you’ll find inside. Beautifully appointed and maintained, the hotel exudes quality. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Carlos at the front desk was particularly nice to us. And the breakfast buffet was without question the best I’ve seen while in Spain. Lastly, whether walking along the beach or into town, the area was safe and secure.

The beauty of this hotel was matched only by the warmth and friendlieness of its staff. This hotel truly deserves its five star rating! The accommodations were spacious and comfortable, with gorgeous views of the water. The food in the restaurant, and especially the gentleman who runs the restaurant, were first rate. And the location was close to both the old part of Santander (an easy bus ride from the stop just outside of the hotel) and to the famous Sardinero beach. I would return here in a heartbeat.

The hotel is located in a landmark building of Santander and is walkable (6 blocks) to various places of interest. The room we got was extremely small and dark, we asked for a change and were not given one.

A classic 5 star hotel. Unfortunately the entire hotel’s air conditioning stopped working, leaving us with a very hot room throughout our stay. In addition, for some reason best known to the receptionist, we were given the room by the lift shaft; which is old and consequently we were aware, every single time, when it was in use. Not a comfortable night’s sleep. Breakfast was very good.
