Comforts of home away from home!Posted Dec 8, 2013
It is so nice to stay in an apartment style while on the road. The place was super clean, the kitchen had adequate supplies (pots, pans, dishes) to cook, and overall it was soo comfortable! The location is pretty amazing. you are a quick walk away from Bellavista, Lastarria, Mercado Central...etc. I would highly recommend staying here.

Caveat emptor!Posted Dec 8, 2013 on Hotels.com
You get what you pay for. After four nights I can comfortably say the hotel location was a big plus. Think of this more as a self-servicing apartment. Housekeeping services consist of moving my toiletries around, emptying the trashcans, putting same towels back up, and flopping the comforter over my bed. Nothing more.

Nice PlacePosted Dec 6, 2013
Pros: Good location, with a friendly staff. Convenient supermarket just down stairs.
Cons: The checking in was confusing to us because of the two step process.
Location: Santa Lucia is just across the street. Close to metro and shopping.
We had just finished a 40 hr bus trip from Lima and it was a great place for us to relax for a couple of days and recuperate.

Convenient location, Clean and ComfortablePosted Nov 21, 2013
Pros: Location, cleanness, comfrot, and city view
Cons: TV is not working. Would be good if there is washing machine
Location: Supermarket is next to the building gate. Plenty restaurants convenience stores and pharmacy are across street and near by. 3 blocks to Plaza de Armas
I had pleasant stay in this one bed room apartment. It is in block C, one of 4 apartment buildings with 24 hours security at gate. The building is new, well maintained. My room was 1811 with fantastic city view. It is in the great location. There is a supermarket next to the building gate. Plenty restaurants are near by. Only about 3 blocks walking distance to Plaza de Armas. Internet is free and fast in room, bathroom is bit small but all worked well. Plenty space in walk-in closet, All facilities are provided except washing machine. TV did not work (no signal?) but it did not bother me as I usually do not watch it. One comfortable double bed in the bed room with air con, one single bed in lounge room (for kid?). Room is cleaned daily by friendly house keeper. The office is located on 2nd floor, open 24 hrs. English speaking staff are friendly and helpful..

Central location, extremely convenientPosted Nov 19, 2013 on Hotels.com
In all, our stay was a very good one. There were one or two minor problems with the room, but nothing that interfered with our stay or enjoyment. The location couldn't be better, and the price was equally wonderful. There were plenty of towels, the hotel office staff were VERY helpful, and I would recommend anyone who wants a good value and the ability to make your own meals.

Great little hotel for budget travalersPosted Nov 18, 2013 on Hotels.com
The staff was very friendly. The room was clean. Location is also good (two blocks away from the metro). There is a mid size supermarket downstairs. Stayed in a cozy one bed room suite with a kitchen for one night. Wifi speed is so so.

Convenient location in central Old SantiagoPosted Nov 11, 2013
Pros: rates, central location
Cons: better lighting and WiFi service
Location: The hotel is in the middle of the Mercado Central, a place with more things to see and do than anyone could ever have time to fully explore.
The location next to the park on Santa Lucia is ideal to access the park and also the downtown shopping area. Unfortunately driving to the hotel can be difficult given that the hotel is on a one-way street two blocks long and the only thing that identifies the Amistar is the street address. There is underground parking below the hotel for $60/wk, so if you can find the place it's fairly convenient. The rooms are clean and the daily maid service is excellent, but the construction materials are not what you would call first class. The kitchen was stainless steel and nice, but the lighting consists of low wattage fluorescent bulbs that give the room a depressing dimness. Shower/tub was adequate. WiFi was somewhat spotty, requiring positioning in one part of the room to find the sweet spot for a decent connection . There are four towers and fortunately my tower manager spoke excellent English, something I can't say for the rest of the staff, even the front desk. The staff is friendly and tries to be helpful, like most everyone in Chile, but when you go to Chile be prepared for zero signs in English, other than Starbucks or MacDonalds, and a population almost completely English illiterate. Spanish speakers will do much better than the typical monolingual American tourist. The rates were low, offsetting the inconveniences, so it is a matter of deciding whether you want comfort or to get by on the cheap.

about 15 walk to Plaza de ArmasPosted Nov 10, 2013 on Hotels.com
We were very happy with the hotel - apartment. There are 4 different towers and was easy to find. True enough - there is a great supermarket right next door (on the street behind Herfanos) which was great with the kitchen in our room. we didn't feel unsafe walking around but always took precautions. Close to all the major attractions to see by walking - especially if you are an avid walker. Museum by San Merced Church on Merced St has a "rongo rongo tablet" from Easter Island - 1 0f only 29 existing in the world.
