The rooms are very nice, the hotel has a casino & 2 restaurants if you don't want to go out. It's also close to the center of the city if you do want to be more adventerous

I highly recommend this hotel. Everyone on the staff was excellent to deal with from the front desk, porters, to the bar tender at the pool! The facility is first rate. The lobby is very upscale and the room was very comfortable. The A/C works great and the furnishings are tasteful and well appointed. The restaurant facility is excellent and the menu is varied to cover all tastes. The breakfast buffet is a great bargin.This is the only palce to stay in Santiago, DR.
“First Class Hotel, but WAY over-priced food”
Wonderful hotel experience! Going in, I was concerned that my family and I would have trouble checking-in because we didn't know much Spanish (which I'm quite embarrassed about), but the staff knew English and were very friendly, and checking-in & out was seamless! The pool area was wonderful, and so was the casino. My only gripe is the extremely and unnecessarily expensive food, even for a hotel of Gran Almirante's stature. i found the $18/person breakfast buffet most outrageous, as the options were quite limited and not very high quality. For example of quality, they served Aunt Jemima pancake syrup with the pancakes (seriously), and I wasn't that impressed with the omelettes. Talk to some locals, and find some more reasonably priced restaurants.

“Great Place to stay in Santiago D.R.”
Lodging at the Gran Almirante Hotel and Casino was a pleasurable experience from check in to check out. The hotel is centrally located 5 minutes away from great restaurants and bars and several of the great landmarks of Santiago. I was presented with coupons representing money in the casino, a complimentary 15 minute message in the hotel spa which included a free drink from the bar. The hotel staff was great and informative. Have a great time in Santiago D.R.
