Birthday Trip

Posted Sep 21, 2014
I arrived at in santiago on the 13th of September and when I walked in the room i noticed it was very clean. The breakfast was nice with traditional domincan meals. Although I speak some Spainish the staff spoke decent English. I enjoyed this place and recommend it to anyone.

it wasn't bad at all, unless the price for a standard room is not inclusive even a bottle of water

Low price, close to center of Santiago

Posted Jul 10, 2011
Hotel Platino was the cheapest price for any hotel that I could find on the Internet. The hotel people are very friendly. I was never afraid to go to them for a question. My room was a one person bedroom (although it could easily be made for two people). You are just one concha*--the non-taxi 20 peso car service--away from the center of town. If you have a short stay, grab a few authentic Dominican dishes from room service (or at the restaurant) such as mangu or asopao (the asopao could have been more flavored with tomato). I really liked the hot chocolate--very rich in flavor. And don't be surprised to see a few mosquitoes in the room. Bring mosquito ointment. Not Five-Star hotel quality, but I definitely recommend this hotel for anyone who is new to Santiago de Los Caballeros and who just needs a place to stay. *Take the Concha K to the center of town where the Monument is located.

not impressed

Posted Jun 29, 2011
First of all the room is small, even a single person would have a hard time getting around in their rooms. Basic necessities missing in the room, like iron and ironboard and wash rags. The bed slips, small mirror in the bathroom and no hot water. This hotel is not worth the price they charge per room, pay for more for comfort.
