Wonderful character & ambience!!Posted Mar 31, 2014
We loved this hotel and the staff was very helpful. It was very clean and spacious, especially considering it was a very old building . . . which added to its charm. Also, the bathroom amenities were excellent . . . which can be an issue when traveling in Europe. Since we went during the off season, the hotel & town was very quiet, with a lot of restaurants & shops being closed . . . including the restaurant for this hotel. However, the hotel staff gave us a great recommendation for where to eat and even served us drinks from their closed restaurant. We would definitely recommend this hotel to others!!

Hotel Altamira: Great location, ambience and comfortPosted Sep 21, 2007
Extremely pleased with this hotel, especially at value price via Expedia-much cheaper than booking direct. Hotel has great atmosphere-dark wood, hangings and period furniture typical of the 'palaces' of the village. Our first room at the back was noisy (kitchen extraction fan) and had a terrible bad smell so we asked to move room the next morning and that was done without hassle. At front of hotel you hear Spanish chatter from the street below-rather pleasant. Room well appointed and v clean; buffet breakfast v good. No safe in room and no lift in the building. However, easily recommend and would use this hotel again. Santillana del Mar v quaint and v full of (mainly Spanish) tourists during the day; much quieter in evenings. Cobbled streets bit tricky for dragging suitcases through. No daytime parking at the hotel or in the village.
