serious need of customer service

Posted Aug 18, 2014
The hotel staff, in particular the front desk staff need SERIOUS training in customer service. The hotel is run down....pool has peeling paint, mattresses are shot and uncomfortable. The entertainment was HORRIBLE, and really embarrassing to watch. It was hard to get silverware, you had to wait a long time to get a drink in the dining room, your meal was finished by the time a drink arrived, if you could track down someone to order one from. I have been at this hotel several times previously in past years, but will not return again.

Needs improvement

Posted Aug 15, 2014
Pros: The beach was amazing
Cons: Security mus be improved so tourists don't get harassed on the beach by all the small vendors
Location: 30min from the airport, good remote location
Was expecting a better hotel from the pictures, the all inclusive is not as all inclusive as it seems. The staff doesn't speak English, they are very slow at executing tasks, specially at the reception. The rooms are very basic, we had a leaking toilet. Security is a bit relaxed and therefore you get annoyed by a lot of people at the beach.

We didn't stay in this hotel. We need a refund.

Posted Aug 13, 2014
We arrived sometime after 9pm. The room we got was not kingsize as we ordered. They sent us to a room on the 3rd floor with no elevator, We got back to the reception and told them I'm pregnant. They send us to another room that had mold and no AC. It was already after midnight and they couldn't find a room. We were exhousted and had to take a Texi to find a different hotel.

Rundown rooms but great facilities and service.

Posted Aug 8, 2014
Pros: Exteriors, gardens, food is OK, beach is great, service is very good.
Cons: AC in the rooms, Old bedding, loud music and pool condition
Location: Location is good, close to the Airport, but did not venture outside the hotel.
This hotel is showing its age. Its exterior, gardens, and general facilities are beautiful, but the rooms are just not acceptable. I had to make three changes in four days and actually got to check out around 8 rooms total. The AC does not work in most rooms, just blows warm air. But the service is excellent. The front desk manager, Alejandro, was simply incredible. Very professional and willing to help. He made the experience better, but he is not the manager so he is not responsible for the overall state of the hotel. He does what he can. Other areas where the hotel could improve is the pools. They are so noisy, loud people, loud music, no rules or regulations about people (children) running and jumping into the water right next to you. This is not a hotel for those accustomed to a quiet and relaxed atmosphere. You can't go far enough so that the loud music fades, there is no escape. The pool that is farthest from the beach is the most quiet, but that does not stop people from bringing their own radios and blast their music right next to you. The hotel just does not intervene with anyone regarding this matter, they just let anyone do whatever they want. The food is good, not excellent, but good. For the price is a great deal. If you don't care about AC, loud noises or loud people, then you will have a great time. I will not be returning to this hotel.

Nice Hotel for the price

Posted Jul 8, 2014
Pros: The landscape and the personnel.
Cons: Towels, bed sheets and food variety.
This hotel is located on a very nice place with beach and pools. The landscape is wonderful and relaxing. The personnel is nice and always smile. I recommend to have better towels and sheets, actual ones are very old. My overall experience was good and I had a wonderful time relaxing at the beach and having fun with the hotel activities.

Ashamed and disappointment

Posted Jul 7, 2014
Pros: The construction itself is beautiful. Staff is excellent.
Cons: MAINTENANCE....... Replace all A/C units, fix leaks in bathrooms. It's disgusting to be have dirty water falling on you from the toilet above.
Location: Location is great, close to the capital and exellent beach. The Romana, Altos de Chavon....
I have visited this hotel in the past and decided to gather a group of friends to celebrate my husband's 60th bithday. As soon as we got there I realized the place has gone down the hill. The rooms were not ready even at 5pm. Once we finally got our rooms the A/C didn't work and there was a leak on the bathroom from the toilet above. The following day we changed rooms, the A/C improved but now we had little water pressure in the shower and no hot water. Neither did we have a working telephone. By this time I was so exhausted I decided to enjoy the beach and the kindness of the staff. I made reservations at the French and Dominican Restaurant's. The staff works wonders with the limited conditions they have. At most they can serve twenty people. When you try to make reservations they tell you it's booked. Once there the place is empty. They menu is limited. My daughters wanted to have lobster at a cost of $35 which is ok and I was willing to pay, they had neither lobsters nor shrimps. Barcelo should be ashamed to have their name at this resort. Like I said at the beggining I have been there when it was called Capella Renaisance and both facilities and staff were great. I felt so embarrased with the rest of my friends for it was my idea to go there and not Punta Cana. One more time I want to make it clear the staff is excellent, they simply can't do more with the little they are offered. NEVER again will I visit a Barcelo resort.....:-(

Pros: Disco, food, gardens, night show.
Cons: Rooms need a little bit of improvement if this is possible since most of resorts in the area are now closed.
Location: Did not leave the hotel.
We had a very pleasant stay in this resort, room was clean and we had a nice view to the shore, nice staff, good food, beautiful and well kept gardens. Also the show was very funny, entertainment staff was very nice as well.
