“noise detracted from stay”
It is unfortunate that the hotel staff makes so much noise in the courtyard in the early hours of the morning ( between 4-7 am). Due the open layout of the hotel to rooms, it was a rude wake up call every morning.
“Our Santo Domingo Retreat”
This was our fourth stay at the Palacio Hotel. The hotel is charming and in the best location. This year our two daughters and their families were guest, too. The children loved having breakfast in the courtyard. We loved that there were so many choices. All of the staff are kind and helpful. Some of them have been at the hotel since our first visit in 2003. The pool is clean and safe for children. We appreciate that the hotel has a parking garage which we used for the first time. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The hotel is a treasure. It dates from the colonial days, yet, has been preserved and maintained to satisfy the needs of the present generation.
“Good value.”
Hotel is in a good location & secure. WIFI did not work in room (130) but great in lobby/patio.
“Old World Charm”
This is an outstanding hotel conveniently located in the Colonial Zone and full of "Old World" charm. The complimentary breakfast was very good and the staff friendly and helpful. The restaurant doesn't serve dinner, but there are a lot of very good restaurants within walking distance.
“The Colonial Zone”
The best and most beautiful hotel I have ever stayed in. Did a great job on keeping to the character of this 400 year old building. Great place to stay.
“very good hotel in a good place”
great hotel in a great place ,nice breakfast although they could gice a better coffee
“Stay here - best option in the Zona Colonial!”
The ambiance is incredible. The historic architecture and location are superb, and it is nice to have the additional amenities of a pool and internet. Free parking was alos a major plus. The staff were always ultra-helpful. Our first night, the front desk arranged for a reservation for us at Pat'e Palo, a nearby restaurant, and gave us a voucher for a free glass of wine. When we got to the restaurant, we were pleased to note that while the place was jammed (a good sign), they were expecting us and welcomed us warmly. The included breakfast was hearty and delicious - especially the homemade croissants.
“Very cute hotel.”
When we first arrived we were afraid the hotel was going to be horrible because of its location. The area is dirty and looks creepy to walk around at night. However, when we walked in to the hotel we fell in love with it. We liked everything about it. Our room had a balcony to use and it was clean. I would definitely stay here again. The location is great because we are in walking distance of all of the colonial zone attractions. Definitely a great choice.
“Great location”
Excellent Hotel close to everything. Very good value, loved the breakfeast. The main street Conde is right next to the hotel. Also right on the corner there is an awesome little grocery store where you can buy almost anything real cheap.
“Perfect location for all the sights of Sto Domingo”
Hotel Palacio is very cute and clean and is in the perfect location, in the heart of Santo Domingo's Zona Colonial. We spent 5 days there, and visited the Catedral Primada de America in Parque de Colón, and the Alcázar de Colón in the Plaza España, which are all extremely close to the hotel. The hotel is right next to El Conde, a pedestrian street which runs between Parque de Independencia and Parque de Colón, filled with shops selling souvenirs and more. There are many other sites to see, just a short taxi ride away from the zona colonial: we visited the Museo del Hombre Dominicano (600 pesos round trip) and Los Tres Ojos cave (700 pesos round trip), and attended 2 baseball games at the Estadio Quisqueya (650 pesos round trip) - front row seats, playoff game, only $15 USD per ticket! Also, Avenida Venezuela, which is full of nightclubs and is my favorite place for nightlife in Santo Domingo, is not too far at about 600-700 pesos round trip. The hotel has a rooftop pool, which is small, but nice, and it's refreshing after a day walking around in humid Santo Domingo. The staff is very helpful if you need anything, and they tell you how much you should pay for a taxi to various locations. Also, I left a necklace in the room, and called from the airport to see if they could find it; at first, they didn't, but when the maids came, they found it. They were very honest, which I appreciate a lot- in many other places, it could have been stolen. Overall great trip, great hotel!
