Great Location in Santo DomingoPosted Jan 22, 2014
Pros: The pool
Cons: The corner room on the 9th floor, looking like a Hospital Room
Location: Location right on the main strip in Santo Domingo. Can't beat that. Lots of things to do walking distance.
They had put us in a corner back of the hotel looking like a hospital room. The room was pretty scaring. I called the front desk to complain. They transferred me to reservation, explain that I need to be moved to another room. They said they will have to call me back. waited 1 hour no call back. So I called them. Let them know my room status again. She then said again we will have to call you back. Ok so we waited again. No call back. We called back, I finally told them look we don't like our room. we want another room. We have been waiting for 2 hours already and I am getting pretty frustrated. She said we don't have any more King size beds. Ok, so what can you do for me. We have 2 queen size beds on the 6th floor. I told her as long as it does not look like a hospital room, we will take. The bell man comes to our room to transfer us to the new room and tells sorry. If I would have brought to this room I would have told the front desk to change you. that room is used mainly for customer that come to sleep and leave in the morning. I was like really we are staying a whole week. Why would they put this there. As soon as we open the door to our next room, what a different feeling. We could breath, we could walk, it was a total different feeling. Very nice and clean. Breakfast was include, which was a nice plus to the hotel. The Pool area is very nice and comfortable. Besides our first experience. We had a great time and liked the hotel very much.

Great Hotel with Great Views, No Beach NearbyPosted Jan 9, 2014
Pros: Clean, well-kept, nice staff, great pool area, free parking, ocean-side, free wifi
Cons: Tourist information. There were no resources as far as where to eat and what to do
Location: Beautiful next to the ocean but be warned that there is no beach nearby.
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Crowne Plaza for 5 nights and overall enjoyed our stay. We flew on a red-eye from NYC and arrived at the hotel around 5am. Being that it was so early, we weren't expecting to be able to check in but went to the hotel anyway. They luckily had a room available that we could check in early to to get some sleep (at a reasonable additional cost). Unfortunately the room we ended up with was probably the worst room they had available. It was at the end of a hallway and seemed to be 2/3 the size of a normal room. Still nice, but there were definitely better rooms there. The pool and pool bar were pretty amazing. The pool area is beautiful and well-maintained. We had the breakfast buffet every morning, which was a nice addition. Of course by the 5th or 6th time of eating there, it got a little old. We ate from the restaurant Nabu and room service a few times, which were pretty good. Not bad, not spectacular. Our one real complaint about the hotel is the lack of a concierge or help desk. The main desk was busy dealing with the guests so having a supplemental desk there for tourists would have been nice. There are many times when we could have used suggestions of where to go and what to do (especially since we don't speak Spanish). Be aware that 28% is added to every bill for tax/tip (even phone calls!). Also, watch out for the mini bar! They tried to charge us for things we didn't use but we were able to solve the problem.

This hotel is in the middle of the ghetto.Posted Jan 9, 2014
Pros: The day I checked out and the feeling of knowing I will never step foot back at this dreaded place. VERY POOR BEACHES WITH PLENTY BEGGARS
Location: The hotel staff tells the guests to be careful so that express the conditions of walking nearby. The water which is the sea is a public dumpster.
This hotel club room guests are shunned from taking advantage of the "so called" perks (i.e complimentary drinks) which is supposed to be a benefit of the club level floors. The hotel taxicab staff are extortioners and take advantage of foreigners.

Great location, nice poolPosted Jan 5, 2014
Pros: The pool terrace and the location.
Cons: They need to invest in new beds!!!!!
Location: Restaurants, Cinema, Horse and Carriage rides and walking the colonial city.
Easy walking to supermarket, pharmacy, bakery and two restaurants. Longer walking, but doable to colonial city, cinema, and more restaurants. Good location for walking! I reserved a room with a king size bed. I got a room with two full size beds. I was so tired at the time I didn't care. The next day I didn't feel like packing and moving so I dealt with it. However, my bed was terrible! It had a huge sage on one side. We flipped it and it didn't help. We then rotated the box spring. The bed was then very high at the footboard so we ended up removing the wheels only at the footboard. It made the bed tolerable but it was definitely the worst part of this hotel. I had to get the staff to remove all the food from the servi-bar so I could use the refrigerator. The food in the hotel is very expensive. We ate meals at different restaurants within walking distance. The pool and palapas are the best part of the hotel. It has an amazing view of the boardwalk and Caribbean Sea. However the pool and hot tub have very cold water, refreshing but you can't swim for very long.
