“Great location but not too safe”
The location of this hotel is the best. It is right in the midst of the Colonial Zone. However, I experienced two very dangerous incidents. One right in the hotel lobby and I asked the staff to call the police. They did not make the call and seemed to take the side of the individual who followed us into the hotel, asking for (no, demanding) that we give him money. On another occasion, a man attempted to steal my necklace right at the hotel door as we were returning. I was able to grab my necklace and he got nothing. Still, because of these experiences, I will never return to this hotel.
“Best value for money & a perfectly situated hotel in the old coloniol zone”
A perfectly fine hotel if you want to spend a day or two in the old coloniol town. I won't recommend the hotel for holidays of more than a week, as no Gym facilities or swimming pool is available. The hotel is however, perfect if you want to explore the surrounding sites.
“Great Location, slow service”
Hotel is on the pedestrian shopping and dining walkway. Check in was quite slow but check out was a breeze. Free buffet breakfast was quite nice and the coffee was superb! Room was on the small side but had no musty odor and the A/C worked quietly and flawlessly. Room was a little dated but suited our needs fine. Housekeeping was excellent. Waitstaff in the restaurant required a redfinement of the word slow. Because of this we chose to eat most meals at other establishments along the street. Good money exchange rate at the front desk but we found the heavy set guy just outside the front door gave the same rate without any time consuming paperwork or waiting. Blue Tours in partnership with Expedia provided our transportation to/from the airport. Excellent service. Highly recommend Blue Tour. Nice trip.
“petty good”
the hotel personnel is very reliable in any king of question you may have.
“Good hotel for the price”
I am overall satisfied with Mercure. The hotel is well maintained and the staff is friendly and helpful. No issues whatsoever with the WiFi. Of course, the rooms are a bit small and so is the TV, but after all, the price is rather reasonable. The hotel is located at the heart of the Colonial Zone and one can walk around to find shops, restaurants, historic sites. Now beware of the surroundings of the hotel. I have found myself rather unlucky with Dominicans this far as I seem to only run across the least honest of them. The area were the hotel is located can also be a tourist trap, so make sure you know some basic Spanish to avoid being duped.
“Not bad, not bad at all”
Great location and great value for the price
“Great Location, comfortable and good deal”
Great Location in Colonial section, comfortable but small rooms, great for a night or two, good price for great location, great service, nice breakfast, not much parking. Enjoy
“Go somewere else”
The hotel room was poor. The air conditioning did not cool the room. The refrigerator was not working. The WI Fi signal was very weak. The only thing good I can report is the restaurant and its location was very good.
“Beware of extra charges and double occupancy”
The Hotel itself is not bad for price and the location is excellent and the staff for the most part is very good. Now the Mecure will not be confused with the Waldorf so if you want a luxury hotel than go somewhere else ,but if you want a good hotel at a good price this hotel fits the bill. Now the reason I will not stay here again is the extra charges they try to put on you they tried to charge me for items from the mini bar when nothing was taken I made sure of that ,but it seems to me its an automatic charge and you have to catch it . Than the double occupancy rate is not what you think I paid that and thought no problem well very wrong they still want to charge more on top of that. I will be fair and say that I do not know if its the hotel policy or just one guy being Barney because this problem was only with one front desk clerk.
“not inpressed”
If you pay for to people you be able to have 2 people in a room not to change every time
