“Best view on the island”
After a full week on Santorini visiting almost every part of the island, we were always happy to make it back to the hotel by the end of the day to catch sunset - the view from Tholos is better than anywhere else on Santorini! There are no resorts below it on the hill which makes it more private than a lot of the resorts closer to the road because there are no people walking past the balconies or pool. Many of the "private" balconies and pools from other resorts are right next to sidewalks and stairs that everyone walking along the caldera passes.
“The best hotel view in Santorini!”
The service at the hotel is spectacular! The view is amazing! The comfort of the room…..don’t expect much. I just came back from Tholos from my honeymoon and everything would have been great only if the rooms were a little more up to date and the beds were more comfortable. We got the Senior Suite (which turned out to be the Honeymoon Suite?) with the private jaccuzi which was not that private and was located right under the hotel kitchen window (a huge minus). So if you are booking don’t waste your money on that part. The breakfasts that were served to us daily on the veranda were delicious! TV service in the room- a joke! Half of the channels were in Arabic and the rest were just junk. Get ready to walk a lot of stairs if you are planning to stay here! And I mean A LOT! But trust me, you do forget quickly about the negative parts of this hotel once you see the sunset! This hotel has AMAZING views!!!!
“Great Hotel with excellent service”
The hotel had an awesome view of the caldera and the staff was extremely helpful and nice. The beds were a little uncomfortable and my husband complained that the mattress was too hard, but otherwise the hotel was very nice.
“Awesome resort!”
We loved staying at the Tholos Resort. The staffs were very helpful and friendly. They bring your breakfast to your room very morning; now how can you beat that! The location of was great. It’s a walking distance to Fira and other restaurants. We recommend renting a Smart car; it’s a blast to drive and it’s economical. Eat at Blue Note; great food!
“The way a small hotel should be run”
My new wife and I just left Santorini after a ě month honeymoon travelling through Europe. Like any time you book through the web we were unsure of what we would get as we had been conned by several other "4 star hotels" along our travels. However this was to be one of-if not the most pleasant hotel stays of our trip. Upon check in we were greeted by a young ladý who without prompting, was keen to give us plenty of useful information about Santorini and about our hotel facilites which was totally unexpected and a welcome change from all of the other hotels we have stayed in on our world trip. Our room had stunning views over the Caldera and boasted one of the best sunsets I have ever seen. The rooms themselves are basic but are more than adequate and typify a Caldera style appartment rather than a fancy new age hotel which is to be expected. If I have one complaint it would be the water pressure in the shower which was a drizzle at best. The room service/Kitchen staff are quite brilliant... friendly, conversationalist without going overboard and the food is as good as you will get anywhere on the island. The blue cheese fillet steak was superb and reasonably priced. All in all a great stay and cannot speak highly enough about this little gem.
“Stunning views but LOTS of stairs”
Tholos Resort has arguably some of the very best views to be had in Santorini, given that it is on the highest part of the cliff surrounding the caldera. However it is pretty unnerving when you walk there along a path with a 1000 ft vertical drop on one side with no barrier at all - so not for those scared of heights. And not for parents with young children who don't always think about falling off a staircase or path. Otherwise very friendly staff and every room really does have a stunning view. Just be prepared to get fit as you go up and down the steps.
“Beyond expectations. Truly memorable holiday”
We picked this hotel after reading lots of other positive reviews and decided to have our wedding at the Tholos Resort. We couldn't have picked a better place. The Manager and her team organized everything we wanted and more (and probably the weather too!). The hotel was beautiful, the rooms large and the service attentive. The view from the hotel is trully unbelievable. The location is nice and quiet yet walking distance to restaurants, bars and shops. The cliff walk is a great way to see the island. We would definitely recommend this hotel and the Manager to other couples planning their wedding in the Greek islands.
