Positives: close to public transportation, VERY nice hotel restaurant, good decor, nice staff
Negatives: wifi slow in the rooms and lobby has a smell that isn't that good.
- Don't pay extra for a city view room as the city view rooms look at an abandoned building and a construction site (as of summer 2015). It wasn't worth the extra money

I knew it was going to be a good holiday as soon as we found our way up to the lovely courtyard at the heart of York House. The room and bathroom were immaculate and well sized for a standard room. The staff were helpful and we heard good reports about the food, although didn't eat there ourselves as there are so many lovely restaurants and bakeries nearby. (This is helped by the location - easy walking distance from the centre but more residential and away from the tourist traps.) Only v minor criticism was the noise in the corridor every morning as the internal soundproofing wasn't great, although no street noise. Small price to pay for such a characterful hotel. Will definitely return.

I was a little nervous about going for this property which was located in a self-accessed block of apartments; as it turned out the process went really smoothly, the access code arriving on time and providing easy and efficient entry to both the block and individual room.
The entrance foyer was a little dark and the lift was not working on the day I arrived but otherwise public areas were fine; the room(s) more than met my expectations, providing a good-sized living area (including sofa bed), with kitchen and dining facilities, a very large bedroom, and acceptable bathroom - perhaps predictably the room which showed most sign of need of upkeep, but still entirely usable and always kept clean. There was also loads of storage space in the hall linking the three rooms together.
We had no contact with staff until the final morning when we left, when we bumped into the cleaning staff; but each day we were there beds were made up, bathroom cleaned and kitchen tidied most adequately.
The apartment was located in a lively street perfectly located for access to tram and bus links and metro terminus, and the rail line to local coastal resorts of Cascais and Estoril (as well as the major Belem tourist sites). It was also a short walk into the Baixa, Chiado and Alfama districts. Although well sound-proofed families with children may find the street a little noisy, music and dancing in local bars often continuing long into the night.

The apartment is very nice and clean. There is a common kitchen and living room.
This apartment is in excellent location: very near public transportation and the Ribeira market where the Timeout Gourmet restaurants fastfood is located. The only drawback is the noise from the tiny street overlooking our room. There are bars and restaurants that stay open in the wee hours of the morning. If you are not a light sleeper this a great place to stay.

Hidden away amongst its graffiti lined street, this hotel was a delightful introduction to Lisbon. The hotel staff were so welcoming. The views of the river from our room were interesting. The highlight was the very reasonably priced 6 course evening meal including local dishes accompanied by local wines. Dinner was served from the terrace of another guesthouse in the group. Views of the river with the setting sun completed a fine evening in Lisbon. Thank you

Formerly an industrial area in Lisbon, the riverfront Santos district has emerged as a thriving design destination. Art galleries, interior design shops, and the Instituto de Artes Visuais, Design e Marketing attract creative types to The Santos Design District. Riverside cafes and bars entertain once the sun sets over Santos.
