“Very comfortable hotel, friendly staff”

Found this hotel to be a great value for the area. The entrance to the room from the parking lot looks a bit forbidding (the new owners are working on putting in some plantings), but once inside, the rooms have been completely redone. Our room (and almost all the others from what I could tell) have big french doors that open out on to a large court yard with a couple of small fountains and some umbrella tables. There is also a nice large fenced in area with a pool. There is a small restaurant that served a good breakfast on the premises. Our room had a coffee maker, microwave and refrigerator. The staff were very pleasant & helpful.

“Veranda Hotel in Venice”

This is a great place at a great price. Although it looks a little worn from the outside, the room was very modern - painted , up to date carpet, large tv with lots of channels. Bathroom a little small, but it served its purpose. All rooms have outside entry with a door that opens onto an inner court yard with a pool. This was very nice feature. A quick walk to Publix and other stores and a great barbque next door. I'd definitely go there again.

“A great hotel in a great location”

The hotel is under new management and they are in the process of remodeling. It is in a great location to downtown Venice and the staff is most courteous and helpful. what a real bargain.

“Shabby but clean”

It was okay. The motel is just that. An old motel that has been renovated to some extent. It was clean and very busy the weekend we went. The price made the stay worthwhile if you are just looking for a place to sleep for a night. Employees in office were good at quieting down the noise factor in the next room Sat night. Pool area was attractive but rest was very shabby.

“Ok for the money.”

This hotel is bare bones, but clean. Very old looking shower, toilet, vanity, carpet, etc. If price is your main concern, this is the place for you.

“OK Place but Issues”

Bad smell from either bathroom cleaner or some sort of bug spray. Bed OK but take your pillows! Construction was going on in room next door until 9:30pm, very noisy!

“Bad Experience”

When we arrived they said they did not have our reservation and had no rooms, tough luck to us. Later they admitted they did have the reservation but there was a conflict with our room for the first night. After there was a cancellation, they put us up in another room for one night. The manager said they would comp us 2 nights for the inconvenience. When we got in our room, it was like a dungeon, very little light, The help from the onsite restaurant smoked outside our room so we kept having to close doors and windows, The smell in the room was like stale urine. The manager said he would check out the AC unit the next day and never did. One of the guys at the desk came immediately when asked, cleaned the filters and had the carpets shampooed. This took care of the odor for about 2 days then it came back. On 3 occasions I spoke with the manager about 2 nights comped, asked if it would be known by the clerk on our checkout day, he said no problem, it is already in the computer. Well it wasn't and when she got him up, he denied he was comping 2 nights and insisted he had only ever said one night. Ended up getting 1 and 1/2 nights comped. very disappointing. We stayed in this hotel last year with no problem. Also they blamed all the problems on Expedia, even though Expedia had a confirmation from them. Also advertise a heated pool but it sure didn' feel like it! There is a snake that lives in the courtyard and likes to hang out by the pool.

“Only in a pinch!”

Hotel located conveniently downtown near shopping, hospital and beach. Hotel could use upgrades in water systems and new mattresses. room smelled like mildew. Location A+. Experience quite a bit less.

“Horribly run-down, old and gross”

After a terse greeting from the lady at the front desk, we signed an index card, and drove around the hotel to the room and parked. Upon opening the dilapidated door, the fresh scent of bleach tickled our noses. The room was small, dark and very outdated. I looked out the french door to see a gravel courtyard. The door was unlocked, so I locked it. We pulled back the sheets...no mattress pad and very thin sheets and worn covers. After a peek in the old, pink bathroom, I looked at my husband and said, "Not a chance." The place was clean, but there was no way we were staying in such a weird feeling room. We left immediately and checked out the next morning. If you are tired and just want to crash, go ahead...but if you are looking for a romantic stay with your spouse, keep driving.
