Pros: The staff was great, the rooms where clean, the court yard is awesome and the attached restaurant is one of Venice's best kept secretes.
Cons: None really, it is an older motel that they redone and you park in front of your front door and the back French doors go out to the court yard & pool.
Location: Not to many things walking distance except bars/clubs and restaurants, grocery and hospital. Lots of beaches and things to do less than 5 mile drive.
Loved this place!!! The staff was great, the restaurant was amazing and the room and pool were very clean.

Perfect 'get-a-wayPosted May 17, 2014
Pros: .comfort, privacy, attractiveness, convenient location, cleanliness and well stocked with all necessities.
Cons: No big list of suggested improvements...parking though is a little tight in the back at 108.
Location: Great restaurants....Sharkeys on the gulf, Pelican Alley on the river at the south end of Casey Key. Take a slow drive up through Casey Key.
Our stay at the Island Sun Inn was all we wanted it to be and so much more! We found it to be a lovely and comfortable room...quiet atmosphere, great restaurant and very comfortable pool area. We especially enjoyed the very nice and super comfy recliner chair in our bedroom. Also sure did appreciate the good sized fridge and the micro. The bed was like a cloud....so what more could we have asked for???? Loved the entire stay there. Judy Baker.....room#108 May 13 and 14.

My Stay at Island Sun InnPosted Mar 23, 2014
Location: The location was very good with the main downtown of the island just over a mile away. The Blu' Island Bistro next door was excellent!
My stay was, for the most part, very pleasant. The staff were great, friendly and helpful. The room was clean, cute, roomy and nice. The only downside was the price (a bit high for me) and I could hear my neighbors talking through the walls but by around 10:00 PM, all was quiet. The bed was very comfortable and I slept like a log; that almost never happens.

Back to the 50'sPosted Feb 19, 2014
Extremely comfortable! Reminded me of the motels I stayed in on family vacations except I could have used the flat screen TV and wireless they had back in the 60's. The staff accommodated all of my needs without fail. Keep in mind that the office closes at 11pm to 9am in your travel plans s.

Not readyPosted Oct 28, 2013
Cons: Everything including a comfortable chair to sit, change and watch TV.
Location: near the beach area and restaurants
It appears that they are trying to update the unit but have a long way to go. No closet pole and without any hangers. Only 2 small wood chairs. Old and very nosey air conditioner. No phone, or TV directory with only basic stations, a very small clock and not sure if it had an alarm on it. Not worth the asking price.

Friendly staffPosted Sep 4, 2013
Pros: The pool was nice and well kept .. much better than the rooms!
Cons: rooms need updating and outside of building cleaned up.
Location: location was good for venice beach.
this hotel is incorrectly advertised! We had to have 3 room changes in 2 days! When we arrived we were shocked at the condition of the property the pictures are deceiving! Our first room of 2 doubles had the worst odor and was not cleaned! Then we had to move to a king room as no other rooms were cleaned and so my 6 foot tall 40 year old brother had to sleep on a pull out bed that was in terrible condition. Then upon taking a shower the toilet over flowed all over bathroom floor and dirt was coming up into the tub so we had to move to another king room! All in 2 days we even left a day early as couldnt take anymore. There is no breakfast and ice machine was always empty.however the staff were very polite when asked questions or trying to help and they were obviously aware of problems and were unable to help more than they had already done.

Mostly goodPosted May 31, 2013
Pros: The outdoor area.
Cons: The carpet.
I was pleased with almost everything. The room was clean and the grounds are great. The carpet in the room needed cleaning or replacement. Carpet was dirty. Otherwise everything was great.

Bad ExperiencePosted Mar 25, 2012
Pros: Location, size of room.
Location: Near grocery store and walking/biking trail
When we arrived they said they did not have our reservation and had no rooms, tough luck to us. Later they admitted they did have the reservation but there was a conflict with our room for the first night. After there was a cancellation, they put us up in another room for one night. The manager said they would comp us 2 nights for the inconvenience. When we got in our room, it was like a dungeon, very little light, The help from the onsite restaurant smoked outside our room so we kept having to close doors and windows, The smell in the room was like stale urine. The manager said he would check out the AC unit the next day and never did. One of the guys at the desk came immediately when asked, cleaned the filters and had the carpets shampooed. This took care of the odor for about 2 days then it came back. On 3 occasions I spoke with the manager about 2 nights comped, asked if it would be known by the clerk on our checkout day, he said no problem, it is already in the computer. Well it wasn't and when she got him up, he denied he was comping 2 nights and insisted he had only ever said one night. Ended up getting 1 and 1/2 nights comped. very disappointing. We stayed in this hotel last year with no problem. Also they blamed all the problems on Expedia, even though Expedia had a confirmation from them. Also advertise a heated pool but it sure didn' feel like it! There is a snake that lives in the courtyard and likes to hang out by the pool.

A great hotel in a great locationPosted Jan 5, 2012
Pros: location, staff,
Location: six blocks from center of Venice
The hotel is under new management and they are in the process of remodeling. It is in a great location to downtown Venice and the staff is most courteous and helpful. what a real bargain.
